UNT MOVEMENTS. a. 9-0 March MCB-7 Advanc'e Party consisting of 6 officers and 05 men was airifted aboard two C-4 aircraft from Davisvie t o Chu Lai, RVN. Detai ALF A ONE c onsisting of 5 men depar'ted via Marine aircraft for Dong Ha, R VN. MCB-7 Main Body consisting of 8 officers and 64 men was airifted aboard C-4 and 4 B-707 aircraft from Davis vie to Chu Lai, RVN. Detai CHARLE TWO consisting of officer and 6 men m oved via surface convoy to T arn Ky, RVN. Detai ALF A ONE returned from Dong Ha, R VN via Marine aircraft. The Ad~ance Party of Detai ECHO consisting of officer and 60 men departed for Phu Loe, RVN. Transportation from ' Chu Lai to P hu Bai was v ia Marine aircr aft. The detai then moved from Phu Bai to Phu L oe via surface convoy. g. 3 May h. 3 June The second echeon of detai ECHO consisting of 55 men moved to Phu Loe, RVN via Marine aircraft and surface convoy. Detai DELTA ONE consisting of officer and 50 men depoyed to Quang Tri, RVN, to accompish constructi on under the Minimum Essentia Requirement s (MER) program. Detai ALF A TWO returned from DaNang. Detai ALFA THREE returned from Camp Evans. MCB 7 ceebrated the nd Anniversary of its recommissioning on 4 October 966. The Advance Party of officers and 7 men depoyed to Davisvie, Rhode sand, via C-4 aircraft. Detai CHARLE TWO returned to Chu Lai from Tarn Ky after competing the Quang Tin Provincia Hospita and cosing their camp. Detai DELTA TWO consisting of officer and 60 men departed for DaNang, RVN. The main body of MCB 7 consisting of officers and 6 5 men depoyed to Davis vie, Rhode sand, utiizing B-707 and C-4 aircraft. 7 officers and 80 men from the deay party depoyed to Davisvie, Rhode sand, utiizij:?-g C-4 aircraft. Baance of deay party incuding detais ECHO and DELTA TWO returned to Davisvie, 6 officers and 89 men, utiizing 3 C-4 aircraft. NMCB 7 assumed OPCON of construction projects from NMCB6.. NMCB 7 assumed command of Camp Mier. RADM J. V. BARTLETT, COM3RDNCB attended NMCB 7 awards ceremony in Camp MiJ,er. RADM W. M. HEAMAN, COMCBPAC visited NMCB 7.. CDR G. H. BROWN was reieved as Executive Officer by LCDR W. A. SMMONS. RADM J. V. BARTLETT, COM3RDNCB visited NMCB 7. CDR W. H. ANDERSON, reieved CDR R. D. COUGHLN as Commanding Officer at a forma Change of Command hed in Camp Mier. RADM J. V. BARTLETT, COM3RDNCB was the guest of honor. Major Genera GETTYS, USA, CG American Division attended the ceremony. Eeven vertica construction projects paced in an OPHOLD status by COM30NCR to conserve materias for priority work in the Northern Corps. Approximatey 80% of the Battaion's stock of " x 4 " umber, /i" pywood and roofing tin were aso shipped North. ii

N ine NMCB 7 personne were wounded, incuding two seriousy, but there were no fataities. Night operation of the Quarry/Crusher was hated temporariy. CDR W. L. WLSON and LT J. L. HENLEY conducted the annua COMCBPAC Management nspection of the Operations, Training and Administrative Departments. Competed Chu Lai Power Distribution System. LT F. GOHRBAND of COM3NCR conducte d an inspection of the Suppy Department. Major Genera ROLLNS, USA, MACY Director of Construction, and CAPT J. R. FSHER, COM30NCR, toured Chu Lai projects. LCDR G. R. MA THEWS and Major TYSON conducted the annua Management nspection Visit of the Panning, Miitary Readiness and Embarkation Df?partment s... RADM J. V. BARTLETT, COM3NCB, and Major Genera BRADLEY, Director of Construction, COMUSMACV toured MCB 7 job sites and visited Camp Mier. CAPT C. G. MLLER and CDR B. J. HACKNSON conducted the Annua CBPAC Management nspection visit of MCB 7._ The new Quang Tin Provincia Hospita, constructed by MCB 7 was dedicated. CAPT J. R. FSHER, C0\;30NCR and CDR ANDERSON, Commanding Officer, MCB 7 were guests of the Vietnamese Government for the c e remony. Cass Va Ammunition Suppy Point competed. Camp Mier officiay cosed. 5 . PUBLC AFFARS PROGRAM a. Battaion Newspaper. Six issues of the Battaion's monthy famiygram, THE TRANST, were pubished during the depoyment from May to October 968. Of the 3000 copies per issue that w e r e printed, approximatey 000 copies were maied to reatives and friends of the Battaion's men. THE TRANST is printed with appropriated funds. The Armed F orces W riters League awa r ded THE TRANST Honorabe Mention in the Sea Service Newspaper of the year competition under the 968 Siver Anchors Awards Program. Another m.onthy, THE SURVEYOR, was mimeographed in Camp Mier primariy as an interna pubication. 500 copies of each issue were printed and dis tributed to the men. Six issues of the URVEYOR were pubished during the depoyment from May to October 968. b. News Reeases. 98 reeases were sent to the Feet Home Town News Center. 34 proje ct reeases were sent to an average of 30 addresses and pubications per r e ease. c. Cruisebook. A contract was signed with Liskey Lithographic in Norfok, Virginia, for the pubication of 800 copies of a 44 page cruisebook with 6 pages of coor. A cruisebook committee, composed of company and department representatives, was estabished to insure that the book's stye and f orm at were in accordance as much as possibe with the men's wishes. The com m.ittee aso served to promote more i nterest in the cruisebook among Battaion personne, and m any suggestions that otherwise woud have gone unnoticed were received as a resut of the repr s e n tative' s wide contact with the men. Thus, ayout of the cruisebook was worked on throughout t he depoyment, and sone of the materia sent to the printer before the Batta.ion' s r eturn to Davisvie. d. Other P rojects. A "Know Your Leade rs Board" was assembed and dispayed i n a prominent pace in Camp Mier showing the battaion' s c hain of command structure with photos of a officers and chiefs of the battaion.. Coor sides were provided for the Battaion Wives Cub, and a coor side presentation was assembed for the Pubic Affairs Officer of COMCBLANT. 3. The Battaion history and the Commanding Officer's and Executive Officer's biographies were updated copies of a -page Change of Command Program were printed by the Tokyo News Service in Tokyo, Japan. 5. The Pubic Affairs Officer, who aso serves as Battaion Historian, bri efed officers and men on the Battaion's history in an effort to increase the men's interest and knowedge of the Battaion's distinguished heritage. 6. The men's response to the Battaion's Pubic Affairs P rogram was g ratifying. n addition to a genera everyday s upport of Pubic Affairs, a number of enisted men and officers wrote and submitted artices to the Battaio n's pubications, and severa officers s ubnitted t echnica artices to outside pubications.
