Detachments. ao SEABEE Team 57: Employed in ran at Grid Coordinates BP on Sheet Number IV 9 Series Dalat, Republic of Vietnam, in accordance with reference (c) to provide technical assistance in Socioeconomic and/or military construction areas in support of U.S. Military Civic Action Program. The approximate duration of the deployment was from 28 October 1965 to 14 May bo SE.iµIBE Team 58: Employed in Ban Si Yaek at Grid Coordinates UD on Sheet Number 5761 LL 9 Series L 78, Amphoe Sahatsakhan, Thailand in accordance with reference (d) to provide on-the- job training and technical assistance for socio-economic development projects. The approximate duration of the deployment was from October 1965 to 28 June c. CDR WILLIAMS, Commanding Officer of NMCB TEN 9 assumed command of Camp Hoover on 15 May Major Problems: Road construction during the rainy season was extremely difficult. It was practically imposs ible to satisfactorily compact laterite fill at a:ay time duri ng this period. The fill remained spongy and extremely plastic despite all efforts to stabilize it. In some sections near Camp Reasoner it was necessary to cut out, re-fill and re~ compact the spongy sections after the r ainy season. 5. Significant Events Planned! None. Morale was at all times excellent in spite of the conditions under which the men lived and worked. By far the most trying period was during the height of the monsoon when all hands worked to keep the roads open. b. Berthing provided by NMCB FIVE was good and became more comfortable. as canvas cots were replaced by spring and mattress beds, and the onboard count declined to alleviate overcrowding. c. Messing provided by NMCB FIVE was outstanding. The construction of the Camp Hoover mess hall late in the deployment provided outstanding food in a comfortable atmosphere. 6. Medical and Dental. a. Total patients treated at sick call b. Number hospitalized - 13 c. On sick list at end of period - d. Dental patients treated - 13 e. Total dental procedures f.
