HOW TO PREPARE FOR NSCC TRAINNING Go to and join the USNSCC 1MC group at Yahoo.com membership in this group will ensure that you receive all updates and announcements about advanced training in the most timely fashion possible. The USNSCC-1MC provides up-to-date information/announcements immediately disseminated from USNSCC National Headquarters and other resources through receipt of Action Letters, Information Letters, Memorandums, and flash correspondences regarding the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps Go to the Homeport page Click on the picture that says: 20XX NSCC/NLCC Summer Training Schedule and the page below will open; BEFORE doing anything, read the NSCC INFORMATION LETTER xx-xx located on the main advanced training schedules page CAREFULLY. THEN
Click on SEARCH FOR A TRAINING If you are looking for a type of training like recruit training type RT in the training code block, this will bring up a listing of ALL recruit training evolutions in all States. You can also narrow down your search by typing the training if you don t know the code; you can search by State, start dates and any category listed and then click on VIEW RECORDS
Lets take a closer look at a training; below you see the schedule for Recruit Training at Fort Devens, MA Training Code Location Note the elements above that you need to know to prepare the training request. Once you have selected the traininig you wish to attend; read the information for the training carefully. Above you will note that as well as the training code, location, cost and dates of training you will see the name, phone number and address of the officer in charge of the training (COTC). Below that in the REMARKS paragraph are specific instructions you must comply with. You may be directed to a website where you will find additional forms or instructions; this paragraph will tell you if you need certain waivers, copy of current ID card, etc. In some cases you will be told that unit CO s are to contact the COTC NOT the cadet; in such case YOU must notify your CO that he/she must contact the COTC. If not otherwise instructed, you must send the COTC an and request a slot. Include the return with you submitted package for training.
The example above directs you to the training website. When you go to that website you will see additional information for you and your parents FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND READ ALL INFORMATION LETTERS (FOR CADETS AND FOR PARENTS) This site provides directions and other informaiton you need to know [NOTE that not all trainings have a website like this] On this site you may see a requirement for a WAIVER or facility access list and directs you to send those completed forms along with your request for training and deposit. If there are such instructions and you fail to comply, you may lose the slot through either a failure to follow instructions or through the extra time it takes for process required forms. REMEMBER FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED!
On the main summer training schedules page you will find the basic forms you will need to complete and submit to your unit to request training. From this page you will need: Training Authority (Request) - Cadet (NSCTNG 001) NSCC/NLCC TRAINING CHECK OFF LIST (NSCTNG 013) Training Authority (LOCAL) (NSCTNG 003) Cadets requesting training shall download these and any other form required by the specific training Complete them on your computer (for clarity and uniformity) Print TWO copies of the NSCTNG 001 and ONE each of NSCTNG 003 and NSCTNG 013 Have parent sign and initial where indicated on ALL FORMS Make sure you type your CO s name, phone number and at the bottom of the NSCTNG 001 and NSCTNG 013 (look on the POM for this information) SUBMITTING YOUR TRAINING REQUEST: Inspect your training request and check-off list to ensure that every block is completed Make a copy of you current NSCC ID card (make sure the expiration date extends well past the end date of the training you are attending) Purchase a money order for the amount of the training (purchase from post office or 7-11) Prepare an envelope with the name and address of the COTC (see the TRAINING SCHEDULE FOR THIS INFORMATION) Place a stamp on the envelope Submit all above to your training officer or CO
