Congratulations to Lt. Rick Martin. He was promoted to that rank this week prior to his retirement, after 30 years of service to the Sheriff s Office. Sheriff Rick Ramsay attended the U.S. Marine Corps 240th birthday celebration held November 10th at the Key Largo American Legion. Here he is with Norm Higgins (left) and John Donnelly. Dr. Michael Sander is a regular donor to Florida Sheriff s Youth Ranches and this year, achieved five star level donor status with his generous donation. In the photo, left to right, Donor Relations Officer for the south region Jim Bowman; Sheriff Ramsay; Dr. Sander; and Donor Relations Officer Debi Girard. Dr. Sander is an Orthodontist who practices on Summerland Key. He wants everyone to know he offers a discount on both adolescent and adult orthodontics treatment to Sheriff s Office employees and their dependents.

Dawn Leird s road patrol squad spread holiday cheer when the Calvary Church of Ft. Lauderdale met with Dep. Gonzalez and asked him to please give out grocery bags of Thanksgiving food. Also inside each bag was a $20 gift card from Publix. In total, deputies gave out 6 bags to 6 random families, all of whom were very grateful. Gym note: The second floor of the DJJ building, including the Sheriff s Office gym, will be closed on November 27th and 28th because the floors in the common areas are scheduled to be stripped and waxed. Claus (AKA Corey and Peggy Bryan) will be at the Plantation Key Nursing Home December 15th at 2 p.m. for Christmas Carolling.

Deputy Charles Miles and his squad of inmate workers helping the Healthy Start Coalition break down their annual re-sale shop in Key West. Ally meets Mo the sloth and Farmer Jeanne Selander at the Grace Lutheran Arts and Crafts fair. Santa and Mrs. Claus (AKA Corey and Peggy Bryan) will be at the Plantation Key Nursing Home December 15th at 2 p.m. for Christmas Carolling. They would love for everyone to join them in the fun! Meet at the Roth Building at 1:45 p.m. It is a very enjoyable and rewarding experience and the patients love it!!! He helped them stay safe as they rode between Hawk s Cay Resort and Key West. Here is a selfie taken of a few riders in the event with Deputy Hager (on the left).
