Send it to beckyherrin@keysso.net, or in the courier to Deputy Becky Herrin, Community Relations Division, Headquarters building on Stock Island. Congratulations to Victim Advocate of the Year For the second year in a row, a Monroe County Sheriff s Office Victim Advocate has been chosen as the State of Florida s Victim Advocate of the Year! Victim Advocate Elaine Woodson was chosen this year, and it is a well-deserved reward for a hard working woman who really cares about the community she serves. Congratulations Elaine!!!! FHP Sergeant says good-bye By Sgt. Joe Mosca to Sheriff Bob Peryam: It has been my most profound pleasure to work with each of you, the Sheriff, your road supervisors and deputies. Prior to coming to Monroe County, I had twenty years of duty in the Miami-Dade area in various capacities and working with all the departments there. I can assure you both, my experiences with each of you and your officers have been a most enjoyable one. It is difficult to leave but, unfortunately, circumstances do change. As I return to work in Miami-Dade County, I will miss the profound professionalism of your department. I am sure that the relationship between the Monroe County Sheriff s Department and the FHP will continue to grow as the new troopers will learn that they will be working alongside some of the most professional law enforcement officers I have ever experienced. In the past 6 years, we have lost many that we have loved and have grown through those hard times. Each of you have a special place in Continued on the next page The Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run kicked off today with the runners stopping by the headquarters buiilding where they were greeted by Colonel Rick Ramsay before contining on their route. Sgt. Linda Mixon would like to thank Captain Don Fanelli and Lieutenant Derek Paul for hosting the recent Internet Crimes Against Children operation which took place recently. Here they are, during the operation, with Lieutenant Nancy Alvarez, Sheriff Bob Peryam and Victim Advocate Debbie Shepherd.
2 my heart because during my tenure in the keys, you opened your hearts and showed great compassion, not just towards me and my family in the loss of our son, but towards your members in their loss of two fellow deputies. Best regards. Fund-raising Run for slain detective There will be a 5K Run held in May to raise money to help the family of Clay County Detective David White, who was killed in the line of duty in February.
