2 YEAR OF ESTABLISHMENT(VEC) (VEC)-2013 ABOUT NCC: The NAT ATIONAL CADET CORPS is the Indian Military cadet corps with its Headquarters at New Delhi. It was started from 15 th JULY 1948.As the year grows the existence of NCC implicated the Quality of Excellence and Perfection Punctually. It is open to school and college students on voluntary basis Organization comprising of ARMY, NAVY,AIR FORCE, engaged in grooming the youth of the country to inculcate the sense of discipline and patriotic to the citizens. ABOUT NAVY: INDIAN NAVY is one of the strongest armed forces which is the FIFTH Largest in the WORLD specially organized to increase the Naval interoperability and also to strengthen the security relationship. The primary objective of the navy is to secure the nation s maritime Border s Sub Lieutenant D.N. Mukherji was the First Indian to be granted a commission as an Engineer Officer in the year 1928 and during that time Navy was renamed as the ROYAL INDIAN NAVY.

7 FLAG HOIST National flag was hoisted by our honorable chief guest Dr. M. Balasubramaniam.
8 FLAG AREA The event started by 7.30am on 26/01/2016. The chief gust of the event was Dr.M.BALASUBRAMANIUM (VEC adviser). The flag area is about DIGITAL INDIA. The flag area was explained by NCC navy cadet NC I Sudharshana. GUARDS

15 71 ST INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION 2017 & COLOSSAL TREE PLANTATION DRIVE Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. It is fitting that at this solemn moment, we take the pledge of dedication to the service of India and her people and to the still larger cause of humanity. Tryst with Destiny speech, Jawaharlal Nehru, 15 August Independence Day of India celebrated by the Indians all over the India on 15 th of August 2017, on Tuesday. This year in 2017, Velammal Engineering College celebrated its 71 st Independence Day to pay tribute to the National leaders and also to remember all the freedom fighters who contributed their life, breathe and fought for the Independence of India. The Independence Day celebration held with great solemnity and honor with a Parade show by NCC NAVY and ARMY cadets eventually followed by cultural Programme by the NCC NAVY, ARMY Cadets, and NSS and YRC Student Volunteers of Velammal Engineering College.

17 Our Beloved Principal Dr. N. Duraipandiyan was the Chief Guest of the Programme. He hoisted the national flag at 8:00 AM at the College Premises at the NCC Parade Ground along with the Vice Principal, Dr.B.Venkatalakshmi, HR, Dr.B.D.Raghavan and Honorable HOD s of Various Engineering departments, and also with executing committee of the four Unit Heads of NCC NAVY, ARMY, NSS and YRC respectively. All the Cadets, Students, Parents, Staffs and Non Teaching Staffs saluted the flag and then sang the Flag Anthem during the flag hoist and eventually followed the March Past of the NCC Cadets. 19 FLAG AREA BY NC I M.SHANOFAR NISHA (ENGLISH) & NC I K.ELAKKIA SELVI (HINDI) The Celebration begun with the welcome Speech by Lt R Chezhian, welcomed the Chief Guest and the dignitaries on and off the ground, followed the speech by NSS Programme Officer Dr. Karthik with the pride achievements of NSS Student Volunteers eventually a humble address by YRC Programme Officer Dr. Rameshkumar welcoming the patriotic crowd on this wonderful occasion. Our Special Guest HR, Dr.B.D.Raghavan emphasized on the importance of listening with the key word H ear, and the chief guest address by honorable Principal Dr. N. Duraipandiyan recalling all the freedom fighters who contributed their life, breathe and fought for the Independence of India. And the next address by Vice Principal Dr.B.Venkatalakshmi recognized the headwork and highlighted the importance of hard work and determination for the further progress towards nation building.
20 The Gallery of Services Patriotic Events were performed by the NCC NAVY, ARMY, NSS & YRC Cadets and Student Volunteers respectively including Colorful dances and enlightening skits. A self defense demonstration was done by the SW Cadets (Girls) of NCC NAVY. The demonstration was a self explanatory to prove their determination and Confidence in Nation Building. 23 National Integration Awareness Programme (NIAP) was enacted by the NCC Cadets of Navy and Army. 26 A massive Tree Plantation Drive was conducted by the Naval Cadets of 4 (TN) NAVAL TECH UNIT, Velammal Engineering College. The Honorable Principal Dr. N. Duraipandiyan, Navy Caretaker Mrs. R. Dhanalakshmi and the 32 NCC Navy Cadets planted 50 saplings at the college campus honoring this wonderful occasion. A few snap shots!!! The Honorable Principal Dr. N. R. Chezian ANO of NCC Army Wing, followed by presidential address given by our honourable Pr rincipal Dr. N. Duraipandian.
30 YOGA DAY CELEBRATION: In our college, third international yoga day was celebrated by all units (NCC NCC-Navy Navy & Army, NSS, YRC) of our college. On that day the yoga session starts with loosing exercise followed by Surya Namaskaram and warm down exercises s.
31 Entire yoga asanas were followed by the students under the demonstrationof Ma aster Vijay Rampal who is an asst. professor of mechanical department. He was also honoured by one of thegreatest awardn YOGA ACHARYA. YOGA COMPETITION: Around am, Yoga asana competition was conducted. Among 150 students, 15 were participated from all the units in yoga competiton. In that advanced asanas like sirasana, maiyurasana dhanura asana etc.. were done by students. Among that 15, the best participants were encouraged by giving certificates and appreciated by Dean H&S Dr. P.Su uresh Kumar. First price was shared by NCC Navycadet NCI T.M..Vaishali

33 Last but not the least theinternational yoga day was successfully concluded by singing an NCC song followed by National Anthem. COASTAL CLEANING No cadets Went : 6 Departed Time : 6:00am Arrived Time : 7:00am Venue : Besent Nagar
34 After the Arrival of all cadets our group comander is taking incharge for our NCC Navy Cadets in our Coastal Cleaning Area.
35 We are the Cadets from VEC NCC Navy went for Coastal Cleaning programme on that day. All of our Seniors With a snap with PI staffs before starting our cleaning work. After ready for the cleaning our NCC Navy cadets holdingthe Coastal Cleaning Bannerand taking the snap with PI staffs.
36 (i) We the Cadets of NCC Navy collecting the waste materials and drop it into the collecting biodegradable bag (i) and Taking the bag to the area where all the collected bags is placed(ii). (ii) During the cleaning time the PI staffs of NCC where taking the snaps with our Army and Navy cadets.
37 After finishing our cleaning work, we the cadets taking the photograph s with the total amount of bags collected by all the cadets on that day. 42 Our cadets participated in Guard of Honour at DG Vaishnav College in Intercollegiate Competition. The Guard Commander was NC I K.Abimanyu. Our cadets performed well in the event. BEST CADET The various physical activities and warm up were given to the best cadets. Cultural event started for the best cadets. After breakfast till the cadets continue with squad handling. Lunch break starts and the go ahead with the group discussion and extempore. MYTHRAEE: The tasks given to the Mythraee cadets on second day were Poster making and they were asked to do an MC on current issues. CROSS COUNTRY:
43 On the second day of the event, around 7AM general cross country was conducted. NC II T.M. Vaishali from senior wing ran 6 km. And won the second place. G.K &G.S. K: Our cadet N.C II SUBIN AUGUSTIN attended the event. FLAG AREA: The flagarea was conducted based on the topic WOMEN EMPOWERMENT. And our cadet N.C II S. SHIREEN FARHANA was the MC for the flag area.
44 SKIT: Skit conducted based on the topic Women Empowerment 7 cadets performed amazingly. Quiz: Our navy senior wing cadets N.C II K.ElakkiaSelvi and N.C II S.ShireenFarhana participated the quiz was all about Army,Navy,Air force TRESURE HUNT The hunting of treasure called treasure hunt were participated by our navy cadetsnc I Sivasankari and NC I A.B. Vijay Basker participated on treasure hunt event. And our cadets won the First Position.
45 GROUP SONG: A song gracefully was sung based on the theme LOVE AND PEACE by ourncc Navy SW cadets. GROUP DANCE: The amazing dance was performed by Navy cadets on the theme of YOUTH EMPOWERMENT. NIAP:
46 The National Integration Awareness Programme was done by the First year and second year cadets. The theme was Tamil Culture. NC II Shireen Farhana was the MC. The portrayal of the Tamil culture by the cadets was appreciated by everyone. FIRING CAMP VENUE : Meenambakkam Firing range CADETS PRESENT : 50 DATE : 14/11/17 & 15/11/17 REACHING TIME : 9:30AM ENDING TIME : 12:30PM The day started with the Eager Morning to do Firing on the Riffles by our cadets, we reached the Firing range at 9:30AM. Instructions were given by the NAVAL PI Staffs to do the firing with the Riffles and they taught us to take the Position while firing.
47 We were divided into two groups the Firer and the Helper, Were the Firer will do Firing and the Helper will collect the Ammunition. We were allowed to do Firing on the Lying position were our cadets are allowed to fire 10 Bullets per Cadets.
48 The minor mistakes done by us were getting Monitored and Corrected by our Firing Instructors.
