10 Hydrographic Surveys The entire Houston Ship Channel as well as the Ports of Houston, Texas City, Galveston, and Freeport required survey to ensure adequate depth. As of September 21, 2017: Surveys continue to be conducted by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, NOAA, and other key port partners. Emergency dredging operations, obstruction and shoal removal are occurring throughout the AOR. Draft restrictions remain in effect for the Houston Ship Channel, GIWW and Freeport.
