5 Continuous Volunteer Opportunities On-Base MCCS Libraries on Camp Foster, Futenma & Courtney The library is looking for individuals who are comfortable using technology physically able to be on their feet for long periods of time, able to engage with a variety of people of all ages, including children and willing to work as park of one team. Please dress in business/ casual attire and closed toed shoes. Detail of Duties: * Assisting with the location of books, audio books and DVDs * Providing general information about Library services * Maintaining displays * Supporting library activities e.g. Summer Reading Program * Assisting with the Innovation Lab * Check In/Out library books All volunteers will receive an LOA for all services they provide. Active duties are welcome to come and volunteer in uniform. Volunteers will be doing tasks such as hanging up clothes, testing electronics, putting away items, and helping to keep the store neat and organized. Volunteers will receive a Letter of Appreciation (LOA) after every 12 hours of volunteer service. The MTS will credit hours towards the LOA for the green line bus travel times from the camps to the MTS. With every 20 hours of volunteering, volunteers will receive $5.00 in store credit. All volunteers under the age of 14 needs to be accompanied by an adult. Lunch is provided for volunteers that volunteer for four hours or more in a given day. 6 Hello 3D Intel Families, the following is a small sampling of the information you can get about the Okinawa Emergency Evacuation Plan (OEEP). For more detailed information visit INTRODUCTION. Evacuation preparedness is vital in order to ensure the continued safety of American citizens residing in Okinawa, Japan. Natural disasters or other events could require the evacuation of American citizens. This is an overview of the Okinawa Area Emergency Evacuation Plan, which is in place to remove you and your family from danger quickly and effectively. WHAT IS THE OAEEP? The Okinawa Area Emergency Evacuation Plan is used to quickly and efficiently evacuate the island of Okinawa during emergencies that endanger the lives of U.S. citizens. WHO MUST EVACUATE? U.S. military and civilian employee family members, non-emergency essential U.S. civilian employees, and Department of Defense (DoD) invited contractors and their families are eligible for evacuation and can be ordered to evacuate. WHAT HAPPENS DURING AN EVACUATION? There are six Evacuation Conditions under the Okinawa Plan, (See figure below). 1. EVAC-N: [Normal] Plan, educate and train. U.S. citizens are encouraged to update emergency information with their command as well as prepare an Evacuation Information Packet (EIP) and emergency readiness kit. Both can be found linked at the top of this page. 2. EVAC-4: [Alert, Recall, Prepare] Evacuees are notified of an evacuation order and should prepare to move to a rallying point while essential personnel are recalled. 3. EVAC-3: [Assemble, Register, Move to ECC] Depending on location of residence, evacuees will be directed to one of the designated rallying points where they will be shuttled to an Evacuation Control Center (ECC) and registered in a computer tracking system. After processing at the ECC, evacuees are transported to a Reception/Departure Processing Center (R/DPC). 4. EVAC-2: [Check-in, Board, Evacuate] At the R/DPC, evacuees will check-in with the tracking system and board a vessel for evacuation. MCAS Futenma and Kadena AB are the Aerial Ports of Departure; White Beach and Naha Military Port are the Sea Ports of Departure. 5. EVAC-1: [Track, Repatriate, Report] Evacuees depart Okinawa via plane or ship and are transported to the U.S. for repatriation. 6. EVAC-R: [Assess, Reconcile] The situation will dictate whether U.S. citizens will return to Okinawa or be permanently relocated. If permanently relocated, evacuees will work with military and State Department representatives to reconcile household goods. EVACUATION INFORMATION SOURCES. During emergencies, AFN radio, television and approved online web sources will provide updated information and instructions. All households should have a battery operated portable radio with extra batteries in case of an emergency. During an emergency, instructions will be disseminated simultaneously from broadcasted media sites as well as your chain of command. Therefore, it is vital to update your emergency contact information with your command. The official sources of information are: AFN Radio FM 89.1 and AM 648 AFN Facebook ( AFN Television (please note that satellite channel 21 on the AFN Pacific decoder is the only off base television source) Marine Corps Installations Pacific ( Kadena Air Base ( 10th Support Group, U.S. Army ( Commander Fleet Activities Okinawa ( ACTIONS DURING AN EMERGENCY. Should an emergency arise, remember to: Disregard all rumors Stay put and listen for further instructions through official channels of communication Be prepared to react quickly Remain calm and flexible

7 Community Relations Volunteer Opportunities! Japanese Spouses English Class When: Meets every Monday from 1130am to 1:00 pm excluding American and Japanese Holidays. Where: Held at Kadena Chapel one (building 9800) near Kadena Gate one Come help teach English to Japanese military spouses wanting to improve their English confidence, learn about Western culture, and make new friends. Suginoko Preschool Visits NEXT VISIT 27 SEPTEMBER!!! 3 rd Intelligence Battalion has adopted a Japanese Preschool via the Camp Headquarters called Suginoko. This preschool is visited by 3 rd Intelligence Battalion Marines, family members, children and friends with the help of Mr. Taka, the Camp Hansen Community Relations Specialist. If you have young children at home and still want to go out and volunteer with them, then this is the type of event for you! When: Every last Wednesday of the month from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. Where: We meet in front of the 3 rd Intelligence Battalion front entrance and carpool to the school in Kin Town about 5 minutes away. Volunteers assist a lead instructor in a EIKAWA (English Conversation) structured class. No preregistration or formal teaching experience is needed.
