3 This is PreparedBC s household emergency plan template for families to work on together. You ll find that most of the language in this plan is directed to your family as a group. Take this plan home and work with your household and your relatives to make this plan as clear as possible. Once you make your plan, be sure to exercise or practice it. After all, practice makes perfect! Before you start on the plan, define the ideas, terms and concepts on the next page in class so that when you take the plan home, you can be the expert in your family on what needs to be included. 3 Household Emergency Plan

Be sure to check it regularly and replace before it expires. Also, store an extra set of contact lenses or prescription glasses, if possible. Do not try to turn it back on. Only a registered gas contractor can do that safely. Identify Make large, easy-to-see signs indicating the location of the water and gas shutoffs, as well as for the front of the electrical panel. Don t forget an extra cell phone charger. Remember that even if phone lines are down, text messages may go through. Don t forget a flashlight and extra batteries. Be sure to store batteries with, but not inside the flashlight.
