This course will prepare training officers, department support personal or other department employees to enter training data online, instead of submitting the information on paper. The participant will interact with the web-based computer program to submit the data to KS-CPOST. A general working knowledge of the internet and computers will be required for this course. Comanche Rd., Dodge City, KS ICSIS: Internet Complaint Search and Investigation Systems Trng Dec. 18, 2012 Presented by: NW3C, Cindy Gonnella and Shawn Bostick ICSIS training has been developed to equip law enforcement personnel with the skills necessary for extracting investigative leads and case-related information from the IC3 database. This training provides students with an expanded knowledge of the database and introduces them to tools for use in building cases during investigations. Project #: LE Times: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Location: Coffeyville City Building, 102 W. 7th, Coffeyville, KS Fees: FREE STOP: Cyber Investigations 101 Secure Techniques for Onsite Preview Dec , 2012 Presented by: NW3C, Cindy Gonnella and Shawn Bostick This 2 day course is intended for probation/parole, detectives and officers conducting knock and talk interviews or spot checks and home visits. This class utilizes a Linux-based bootable CD to preview a suspect computer system for potential evidence in a forensically sound manner. 7 Helicopter Landing Zone Training December 20, 2012 Presented by: LifeTeam Public safety personnel interact with rotary winged aircraft for a number of different agencies and organizations, including law enforcement, firefighting, VIP transport and news media helicopters. However, the majority of public safety interactions are with EMS helicopters. This twohour class will inform students on the following EMS landing zone procedures: HOW TO ACTIVATE; PROVIDING ESSENTIAL INFORMATION; WEATHER; PATIENT STATUS; LANDING ZONE. Project #: LE Times: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Location: KLETC Main Campus, Classroom #1 Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement A.R.I.D.E December 20-21, 2012 Presented by: Kansas Highway Patrol This is advanced training for officers that have completed Standardized Field Sobriety Testing training to give them additional skills to recognize signs and symptoms of impairment from drugs other than alcohol. The officer will be able to articulate reasonable suspicion of impairment by drugs through observation and various testing to support a probable cause arrest for DUI-Drugs and to sustain a request for a toxicology specimen for drug testing and identification. Project #: LE Location: KLETC, Learning Center Classroom C Meals and Lodging: $60/Double Occupancy OR $90/Single Occupancy Data Driven Approaches to Crime & Traffic Safety DDACTS January 7-9, 2013 Presented by: Peggy Schaefer, IADLEST Data-Driven Approaches to Crime and Traffic Safety (DDACTS) integrates location-based crime and traffic data to establish effective and efficient methods for deploying law enforcement and other resources. TELENET II: FBI Law Enforcement Online (LEO) January 9, 2013 Presented by: Kristi Knight, LEO Program Law Enforcement Online (LEO) is a state-of-the-art Internet system that is accredited and approved by the FBI for sensitive but unclassified information. 8 Legal Issues in Car Stops January 10, 2013 Presented by: Colin Wood, SAUSA, US Attorney s Office District of Kansas This class examines the many legal issues involved in car stops. Through the use of a timeline, the anatomy of a car stop is broken down into pieces to better discuss a law enforcement officer s authority to perform certain tasks at certain times and under certain circumstances. Topics include temporary detentions, reasonable suspicion, probable cause, consent, safety stops, tipsters, use of K- 9s, interdiction techniques, searches and interviews. Participants will experience the life of a victim experiencing technology abuse through a hands-on multimedia journey. The perpetrator stalks, harasses, threatens, and intimidates the victim by misusing cell phones, GPS, spyware, , internet, and more. Best practices, safety considerations, and strategies for law enforcement will be provided. Field Training Officer January 16-18, 2013 Presented by: Tim Brant, Lieutenant, Derby Police Department This seminar is presented by the Kansas Chapter of the National Association of Field Training Officers (NAFTO). The course is designed for field training officers and their supervisors. This seminar will train officers who conduct training for law enforcement officers, as well as supervisors who oversee the officers and the recruits they are training.
