1 02 July Madrid An estimated 2,000 people participated in Barrio Fiesta sa Madrid 2017, which was held at the Nuestra Señora de la Consolación in Madrid. The Barrio Fiesta is a yearly event organized by the Filipino Community in Madrid, with the assistance of the Philippine Embassy.

5 29-30 June Valencia Philippine Honorary Consul in Valencia Manuel Carrion Sanchez ably represented the Philippines at the IMEX Comunitat Valenciana 2017 where he held various one-on-one business meetings with Spanish companies. 01 July Madrid The Overseas Registration (OVR) Team worked overtime to prepare the prizes which will be given to successful overseas registrants during the 2017 Barrio Fiesta. The prizes were personally donated for the Overseas Registration campaign by the Ambassador and personnel of the Embassy, as well as by the OVR Team. Personalized drinkware tumblers for Overseas Registration 2017 were created by the OVR team which were given away to successful registrants. 01 July Madrid Embassy personnel skipped their Saturday rest to assist in the preparation for the Filipino Community s 2017 Barrio Fiesta.

6 02 July Madrid The Overseas Voters Registration Team conducted mobile registration during the Barrio Fiesta celebration of the Filipino Community in Madrid. Prizes were given to those who successfully registered during the Barrio Fiesta courtesy of the OVR Team and the Embassy personnel July Zaragosa. The Philippine Embassy in Madrid joined other ASEAN embassies in promoting trade and investments in their respective countries and in the ASEAN region as a whole, through an Investment Mission to Zaragoza, Spain, last July Post was represented by Minister and Consul General Emmanuel R. Fernandez July Galicia. Ambassador Lhuillier joined the ASPAC Ambassadors for various meetings with officials of the Autonomous Region of Galicia.

7 06 July Madrid First Secretary and Consul Mary Luck S. Hicarte bid farewell to the Philippine Embassy to assume her new assignment at the DFA Home Office in Manila. Consul Hicarte was the Head of the Cultural Section of the Philippine Embassy in Madrid. 09 July Madrid The Overseas Registration Team conducted off-field registration on a Sunday at a remittance center in Madrid to bring the OV registration closer to Filipinos during their day-off. 10 July Madrid Ambassador Philippe J. Lhuillier met with the Spanish Secretary of State for Commerce, Ms. Marisa Poncela Garcia, to discuss further cooperation between the Philippine andspain.

Fernandez attended the ASEAN Committee in Madrid (ACM) Monthly Meeting to discuss projects and activities in celebration of ASEAN s 50 th year anniversary July 2017, London UK The Office of the Defense and Armed Forces Attaché, headed by Colonel Romulo A. Manuel, Jr., PA, Defense and Armed Forces Attaché- Spain/ NRA-United Kingdom, provided administrative assistance to LTGEN EDGAR R FALLORINA AFP, Commanding General, Philippine Air Force, during his attendance at the Royal Air Force Air Power Conference (APC) held in Central London and Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT).

9 12, 13 and 14 July Madrid In celebration of the 70 th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Philippines and Spain, three Filipino films stood out in the recently concluded Madrid International Film Festival (MIFF) which was held from 08 to 15 July 2017 in Madrid with 325 (short, feature and full-length) films participating from different countries of the world. Consul General Emmanuel R. Fernandez invited the viewers to not only enjoy the films but also to reflect on every message of each Filipino film presented in this year s competition. He further said that films are a reflection of our lives, hence they can help us better understand our lives and explore ways of improving them. Magtanggol by Sigfreid Barros Sanchez. The movie received MIFF nominations for Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress. Dagsin (or Gravity ) by Atom Magadia The movie received MIFF nominations for Best Foreign Film, Best Actress, Best Editing & Best Costume. Ms. Jona Ballaran received the trophy for Best in Costume for Dagsin. An Open Door: Holocaust Haven in the Philippines by Noel Sonny Izon. The movie was awarded Best Feature Length Documentary and received a nomination for Best Director of a Feature Length Documentary.

11 17-23 July Madrid Rhiannon Jae Flores and Sofia Carmen Ortigas, both from St Pedro Poveda College, were joined by over 30 other youth participants between 13 to 15 years old from other countries for the week-long forum that took them across Spain s heritage sites for the 9 th World Heritage Youth Forum held in Spain from 17 to 23 July July Madrid Mr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez, Chargé d Affaires, a.i., received a book donation from Ms. Kathyrine Solivio Alba, President of Duterte Die-Hard Supporters OFW Global Movement for Empowerment - Madrid Chapter.

12 25 July Madrid Kammerchor-Manila, headed by its conductor, Mr. Anthony Go Villanueva, staged a concert at the Basilica Parroquia Virgen Milagrosa which was attended by Mr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez, Chargé d Affaires, a.i. and other Embassy officers and staff. 28 July 2017, Madrid Philippine Air Force Post Qualification Inspection Team headed by BGEN Erickson R. Gloria AFP was received by Chargé d Affaires, a.i. Emmanuel R. Fernandez at the Philippine Embassy. Also present during the courtesy call were the other members of the inspection team -- Col. Jesus Nelson B. Morales GSC (PAF), Col. Gerry E. Pulohanan JAGS (GSC) -- and Philippine Defense and Armed Forces Attaché, Col. Romulo A. Manuel, Jr. PA.
