A digital portfolio of existing works, which provides an opportunity to demonstrate your creative potential and commitment. Your digital work should align with the pathway scholarship that you are applying for, but should show creativity beyond media. A 1-page (~500 words) written statement exploring this year s set topic for your chosen pathway: (choose one) o Film and TV: The market for film and television is changing rapidly. Where do you see the market and industry going, and how will the art of storytelling change based upon that new market? o Game Development: The idea of Gamification is pollinating across many different sectors, from education to health sciences to marketing and advertising. Do you see this process as something that benefits the medium of game? Where is the space for a game when more of our daily lives get gamified? o Animation and VFX: Given advances in realism in artificial environments and actors, what do you see as the roles animation and VFX will have across different media over the next ten years? Is artificial realism an end unto itself? o Web and Interactive Development: The Internet of Things (IoT) is rapidly becoming commonplace. In what sector (e.g. government, education, health sciences, etc.) do you see IoT as having the most potential for social change and progress, and why? How might IoT devices be used in that sector?

4 Disclosure of Information The University undertakes to collect, use and store the information you provide in this application according to the principles of the Privacy Act Guidelines for School Leavers: what we need about your school qualifications You are required to attach a photocopy or scan of your Official interim NZQA Level 2 NCEA results (issued in January). These have the heading National Qualifications Framework, and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority address at the bottom of the page. You should also include a copy of your National Certificate of Educational Achievement. Alternatively, you can send a copy of your School Results Summary. These have red/brown underscoring beneath the heading. These show a Course Credit Summary ent.cred, & ach.crd. with a pinkish/brown background. If you have lost your official documents, you may send an unofficial copy printed from the NZQA website BUT only if this is verified and it MUST be accompanied by a letter from your school providing a breakdown of Total Credits Achieved in each subject for level 2 (and level 3 if applicable), and the number of Excellence Achieved & Merits Achieved in each subject. This must also be verified. Example of what we need your school to provide: Biology L2 Total Credits: 21, Excellence: 6, Merit: 9 English L2 Total Credits: 17, Excellence: 6, Merit: 3 Guidelines for All Applicants: what we mean by verified An officially verified document is a photocopy of an original document that has been signed and dated for authenticity by an authorised person. This applies to you if: You are a non-school leaver. You must get your school qualifications verified. You are a school leaver who has lost his/her original NCEA documents. You must get your NZQA website printout verified. Who can officially verify documents? You can bring your original documents to the Contact Centre counter at any Massey University campus and we can verify and photocopy them for you. Below is the list of other authorised people who can verify your documents. Students living in New Zealand Justice of the Peace (JP), Public Notary, Court Registrar, Deputy Registrar, Public Trust Officer. Barrister or Solicitor of the High Court. Local or Central Government employee designated for the purpose of taking oaths and declarations. Staff from Work and Income NZ, Internal Affairs or Inland Revenue Department.

5 Kaumatua (for whakapapa statement only). An officially verified copy of a whakapapa statement is acceptable only when a student cannot obtain a birth certificate. Both the student and a Kaumatua must sign the whakapapa as evidence of identity and citizenship. Students living outside New Zealand A registered Massey University education agent, Justice of the Peace (JP) or Public Notary. Registrar of a tertiary institution or deputy. University academic or administrative staff. New Zealand education institution staff. Officials of the issuing institution (NZ or overseas) For overseas students academic documents can be officially verified by an authorised officer of the issuing tertiary institution. A Trade New Zealand Offshore Education Centre, Embassy, High Commission or Consulate General. How to get documents officially verified Photocopy each side of the original document. Take the originals and photocopy to a person who can officially verify documents. The verifier must identify their official designation on the front of each page of the copy (preferably with an official stamp), sign and date the copy and write the following words (or words to the same effect) This is a true copy of an original document that I have sighted. Officially verified documents must have the original signature or they cannot be accepted.
