Operational Movement: A unit move is the relocation of a force and its materiel to a desired area of operations. Ref. FM 4-01.

Staging assembles, temporarily holds, and organizes arriving personnel, equipment, and materiel into units and forces, and prepares them for onward movement and tactical operations. Onward Movement is the process of moving units and accompanying materiel from reception facilities, marshaling areas, and staging areas to tactical assembly / operational areas or other theater destinations.
