1 No. 10 February Newsletter IEEE TISP WORKSHOP Reported by Ayu Purwarianti (Chair of Education Chapter Indonesia Section) Eduction officer of and Education Chapter Indonesia Section, sponsored by IA-ITB Chevron conducted Teacher in Service Program (TISP) Workshop in Pekanbaru on Saturday, February 3rd, This workshop was held at SMA IT Ijtihad, Pekanbaru. It was attended by about 30 high school teachers of Mathematics, Physics and Biology in Pekanbaru. The mentor for the workshop was Dr. Ayu Purwarianti, the chair of Education chapter Indonesia Section. The workshop was very successful. It was firstly opened by the Head of Foundation of SMA IT Ijtihad and Chair of IA-ITB Chevron Organization. The topic of the workshop was STEM education and how IEEE support the STEM education, including the There was an explanation on the Candy bag syllabus and enhanced on the Wind Mill Syllabus. The workshop was closed with a discussion on how to make the STEM education useful for many other regions in Indonesia. There was also discussion on how to make the syllabus available in into Indonesian language. WORKSHOP OF IEEE BASED CONFERENCE AND CONFERENCE MANAGEMENT TOOLKIT AT UNIVERSITY OF RIAU Reported By Iswadi Hasyim Rosma, iswadi.hr@lecturer.unri.ac.id Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Riau conducted 2 days workshop of conference management toolkit in conjunction with IEEE Indonesia section and IEEE Indonesia Communication Soci- ety chapter in Pekanbaru on February 23th and 24, The workshop was attended by 17 academic staffs as the preparation of nd International Conference of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (Icon EEI). The speaker of workshop was Dr. Muhammad Ary Murti.

2 No. 10 February 2018 Page 2 The workshop aimed to transfer the experiences and knowledge of the speaker on organizing an IEEE based international conference to the participants. It covered the wide range of materials, such as introduction of IEEE conference, setting up new conference by using conference management toolkit, organizing paper, reviewing process, decision of submitted paper, preparing financial report and preparing proceeding and compliant pdf files for IEEE Xplore. 1 ST TEAM 2018; IEEE INDONESIA -TELKOMNIKA COLLABORATION TO ENHANCE REPUTABLE JOURNAL PUBLICATIONS Reported By:Tole Sutikno tole.ee.uad.ac.id The publication of scientific articles in Indonesia is experiencing a significant increase in number. By the 2017, Indonesia has publications in reputable journals. Considering this significant amount, it is necessary to improve the quality of content publications. As English language is a foreign language, some Indonesian authors have problems in writing a publication article. Aware of this TELKOMNIKA, as one of the reputable journals in Indonesia, together with collaborated in the work of quality improvement. Located at the Eastparc Hotel Yogyakarta (1-2 February 2018), the event titled 1st TEAM 2018 brought together editors and authors from TELKOMNIKA journals. This meeting expected to give a positive impact on the quality of scientific publications Indonesia. Dr. Sadjuga, MSc, as Director of Intellectual Property Management of the Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenristekdikti) conveyed to the participants about the policy "Indonesia Menulis 2018", the policy to lift the quality and quantity of Indonesian scientific publication in reputable journals Dr. Sadjuga, MSc, Prof. Dr. Ir. 3 No. 10 February 2018 Page 3 Prof. Dr. Ir. Fitri Yuli Zulkifli, Chair of IEEE Indonesia, delivered the standard of writing qualified scientific articles according to IEEE and international rules. She also expects IEEE Indonesia members actively involve in the publication activity. Thus, all elements will support each other in improving the quality and quantity of Indonesian scientific publications. This event was attended by 47 people with 11 IEEE members. CONFERENCE NEWS The IEEE Member and Geographic Activities Board approved the following TCS Fee Motion as final policy for handling the TCS fees at the November 2017 IEEE Meeting For all conference applications received 1 Jan 2018 or later, in which an MGA Geographic Unit is a technical co -sponsor, the MGA TCS Fee Policy shall apply. Starting 1 March 2018, IEEE MCE will deploy processes to collect the TCS fees for conferences with applications submitted 1 January 2018 or later. MGA and MCE are working together to support geographic units during this transition. You can expect more detailed communications about TCS fees, related website content, and webinar training in early If you would like more information on this new allocation process or have any questions, please contact at mgatcs@ieee.org. For any technically co-sponsored conference in which there is no (0%) IEEE financial interest, the MGA cosponsor shall arrange (via an approved MoU) for recovery of IEEE operation cost in the form of TCS fees. Effective for conferences for which the creation of the MoU starts after 1 Jan 2018, the fees are $1,000 per event plus $15 for each paper that is optionally published in Xplore. As an exception to this general policy, MGA will continue to pay those fees in the external (non-ieee) financial sponsor has a national society agreement with IEEE or has a sister society agreement with one or more of the IEEE societies.
