The Fresno State program is targeted at those in the community that are 50+ years, but they let students sneak in when they want to attend. Those attending don't have to worry about tests or homework!

They have Spring, Fall and Summer programs, ranging from $40 - $100 per semester.

Jill Wagner, Executive Director Host: David Hembree Bernard Osher, the founder of the Osher Foundation was passionate about education at any age. The Fresno State program is targeted at those in the community that are 50+ years, but they let students sneak in when they want to attend. Those attending don't have to worry about tests or homework! It is all about learning and the experience. Jill wears her Mrs. Angel Pagan name tag proudly as a huge Giants fan, and sometimes people actually believe her! They have Spring, Fall and Summer programs, ranging from $40 - $100 per semester. Enrollees have all the privileges of Fresno State students including parking and the benefit of campus Professors teaching the majority of the classes. Most classes are held at the University Business Center Conference Rooms but they are branching out into downtown Fresno. They also offer one day field trips related to certain courses. They are always looking for teachers to share their experiences and members to join their program. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers as they continue to go through this difficult time. They want everyone to know that things are finally looking up. 2. The Board approved $250 to assist with the Trail Maintenance, Hands On Project. 3. The Board approved a $150 donation toward the District 5230 Golf Outing, as part of the District Conference. A Tee Sign at the Golf Outing recognizing our club was also included as part of the donation. 4. First quarter and carry over Happy Buck Donations will be designated to the Molly Griffin Foundation Scholarship Fund. Update - Based on last meetings Happy Buck Donations, and bell ringing efforts of members, $650 was raised. 5. Past District Governor, Mike Andrich, requested representation from Territory 8 for the District Governor Designee (19-20) Selection Committee. Nelson Sebra was nominated and accepted as our representative. 6. Due to the school in Mexico that we have supported for years, has joined the public school system in Mexico, they are no longer in need of our support. $390 is remaining in our account, which the Board approved to be designated to the Philippine Shoe Box Project we have been supporting for the past year. This money will be used for additional shoe boxes, or in support of lavatory facilities for the students. 7. 3 Clovis Rotary Club Events Last Week s Meeting: There were 32 of our 72 members present with 7 guests and 1 visiting Rotarian Another full house! Mascha, our new exchange student is welcomed at the aiport on Saturday. Bruce Fremming received his Paul Harris Fellow +1 Mascha was really surprised by the Rotarians Alan Dorfmeier shared his Rotary History Mascha is our 2016/17 exchange student from Bremen, Germany. She arrived safely on Saturday and was met by a large contingent of Clovis Rotarians. Troy thanks everyone who welcomed her at the airport as it is a time of great stress for these students. Rotary International News The 2016-17 Nominating Committee for President of Rotary International has unanimously nominated Samuel Frobisher Owori, of the Rotary Club of Kampala, Uganda, to be the

17 Rotary International News The Nominating Committee for President of Rotary International has unanimously nominated Samuel Frobisher Owori, of the Rotary Club of Kampala, Uganda, to be the president of Rotary International in He will be declared the president-nominee on 1 October if no challenging candidates have been suggested. Owori says he sees in Rotary "an incredible passion to make a difference." As president, he plans to "harness that enthusiasm and pride so that every project becomes the engine of peace and prosperity." Owori's chief concerns as a Rotary leader are membership and extension. Since he served as district governor, the number of clubs in Uganda has swelled from nine to 89. He urges past, present, and future leaders to work together to engage more women, youth program participants, alumni, and community members to increase Rotary's membership in the coming years. "There are many places which need Rotary and numerous potential members who have never been invited," he says. "The problem is Rotarians who got in and closed the doors." Owori is chief executive officer of the Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda. Before that, he was executive director of the African Development Bank, managing director of Uganda Commercial Bank Ltd., and director of Uganda Development Bank. He has studied law, employment relations, business management, corporate resources management, microfinance, and marketing at institutions in England, Japan, Switzerland, Tanzania, and the United States, including Harvard Business School. Since becoming a member in 1978, Owori has served Rotary as regional Rotary Foundation coordinator, regional RI membership coordinator, RI Representative to the United Nations Environment Program and UN-Habitat, and RI director. He has been a member or chair of several committees, including the International PolioPlus Committee, the Drug Abuse Prevention Task Force, and the Audit Committee. Most recently, Owori served as trustee of The Rotary Foundation, chair of The Rotary Foundation's Finance Committee, and a member of the Investment Committee. Owori is a Benefactor of The Rotary Foundation, and he and his wife, Norah, are Major Donors and Paul Harris Fellows.
