3 Who we are Deutscher Museumsbund - The German Museums Association (founded in 1917) represents and promotes the interests of museums, museum staff and all those whose work is connected to museums on federal level nation-wide. The Association represents all kinds of museums.

6 Who we are Board The Association is represented through an honorary board, consisting of a president, vice-president and 8 board members. It is composed of museum professionals throughout Germany, representing different museums categories and different regions of Germany. The board is elected by the members at the general assembly. 9 How we work: Members and Membership 3 different types of membership: Individual: membership fee is 55 /35 (reduced fee for students/museum trainees): museum staff working as curators or in an educational or a similar professional field at or for a museum, students aiming at an occupation in the museum sector, freelancers working mainly for museums Institutional: membership fee is 110 publicly and privately run museums as well as similar institutions museum associations and institutions related to museum work Sponsoring membership General assembly held once a year during annual conference

15 What we do: Offers Museumscard: free entry to around 700 museums in Germany Expertise, network and exchange platform at GMA s Annual Conference Publications: Two issues of the journal Museumskunde are published per year Bulletin is published four times per year (exchange platform for working committees, news from GMA office and projects) Einkaufsführer für Museen (annual directory of providers, who work for the museum sector)

17 GMA Project: NEMO Network of European Museumsorganisations Since 2006 GMA is running the NEMO office NEMO (founded in 1992), the Network of European Museum Organisations, is an independent and informal network of museum associations and similar bodies representing the museum community in Europe (32 member countries).

18 GMA Project: International Museum Day Every year since 1977 the International Museum Day is organised worldwide around 18 May. This day is an occasion to raise awareness on how important museums are for the development of society!

19 GMA Project: Museum and Migration Summer 2012 Summer 2015: The German Museum Association carried out two projects on "museums and migration". The aim is the intercultural opening" of museums and a further engagement with the culturally diverse society in Germany. Funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media and by the Federal office for migration and refugees
