Alpha Phi Alpha Oratorical Contest (2015) Deadline: November 8, 2015 Contestants must submit an original speech that is no less than 750 words and no more than 1,000 words. The speech can be no less than 4 minutes and 30 seconds in length when spoken or more than 7 minutes and 30 seconds when spoken. Contest guidelines can be picked up in the Counseling Center. Colored Rocks Deadline: December 4, 2015 The Colored Rocks Foundation recognizes male students of color who set positive examples and make worthy commitments to the success of their peers. The goal is to improve high school graduation rates among this group of students. The Colored Rocks Foundation (CRF) will hold an essay contest. 15 prizes will be awarded in the form of a check and may use their prize money for any purpose they desire. The prize money may-but does not have to be used for tuition or fees at any college or institute of higher learning. Awards: 1-$3,500, 1-$750, 1-$150 and 12-$50 prizes
3 Ronald McDonald House Charities-US Scholarship Program for eligibility requirements Application Deadline: January 20 th Application Deadline: January 7, 2016 GE-Regan Foundation Scholarship Program rewards college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with financial assistance to pursue higher education. Award: 20 recipients receive a $10,000 scholarship renewable for up to an additional three years-up to $40,000 total per recipient. Eligibility Requirements: demonstrate at school, at the workplace, and within the community the attributes of leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship; demonstrate strong academic performance (minimum 3.0 grade point average/4.0 scale or equivalent); demonstrate financial need; be citizens of the United States of America; be current high school seniors attending high school in the United States and plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study toward a bachelor s degree at an accredited four year college or university in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year.
4 Foot Locker Scholar Athletes Scholarship Application Deadline: December 17 th at 5:00 pm The Foot Locker Scholar Athletes program honors student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional academic ability and strong leadership skills in sports, in their schools, and within their communities Award: (Twenty) $20,000 in college scholarship money in four equal annual payments of $5,000 throughout the winner s four-year college career One of the 20 winners will be selected for the Ken C. Hicks Scholarship and receive an additional $5000 award (for a total of $25,000) in four yearly installments, each of $6,250. Eligibility: Be a current high school senior entering a four-year, accredited US college or university in the Fall of 2016 Be currently a member (in good standing) of a high school sports team or be involved in after-school sports (e.g. intramurals, martial arts, etc.) Have maintained an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher from ninth grade to first semester of 12 th grade Be a U.S. citizen or US Permanent Legal Resident
5 GCEL, Inc. Scholarship for Title I High School Seniors The Georgia Compensatory Educational Leaders, Inc. (GCEL, Inc.) makes available two (2) $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors who attend Title I schools. Information about the scholarship and the link to the application are located on our website at The deadline for submitting the scholarship application and supporting documents is January 5, Eligibility Requirements: Be a senior enrolled at a Title I School in Georgia for school year. Submit complete GCEL, Inc. Scholarship package including the essay by January 5, Have a GPA of 2.5 or greater (submit sealed official high school transcript). Submit (1) one recommendation letter. Please include in packet Submit verification of SAT or ACT scores. Proof of acceptance/enrollment into a college, university, or technical school no later than September 30, Clayton State University Presidential Scholars Program The 2016 Colored Rocks Prize Competition
6 The Colored Rocks Foundation established the Colored Rocks Prize in 2011 to address the failing graduation rates in Georgia among young men of color. The Prize competition was designed to encourage and celebrate distinguished young men of color who graduate from high school and use their talent while in high school to return a significant contribution to their peers. Deadline: December 5, 2015 The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program The American Legion Post 15 Griffin, Georgia You may go online to select programs then oratorical for complete contest instructions. University of North Georgia Army ROTC Scholarship Types and Benefits Recipients become Army lieutenants upon graduation from UNG with bachelor s degrees. If selected for active duty Army, starting salary is $59,000 per year General Army ROTC Scholarship (4-year and 3-year Advance Designee Arabic and Chinese Language Majors STEM Majors Guaranteed Reserve Force Duty (Army National Guard and Army Reserve) What does the scholarship pay for? Tuition and Fees-or-Room and Board Monthly Stipend
7 $1,200 per year book allowance Total value of UNG: $59,000 for a 4year scholarship or $45,000 for a 3 year advancedesignee scholarship Deadline: January 13, 2016 The GMS 2016 Application will open on August 1, To be eligible for the Gates Millennium Scholars Program students must: Be African American, American Indian/Alaska, Native, Asian American/Pacific Islander or Hispanic American; Be Citizens, legal permanent residents or nationals of the United States; Have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale or earned a GED; Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities; Meet Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria; Enroll for the first time at a U.S. located, accredited college or university (with the exception of students concurrently pursuing a high school diploma) in the fall as a fulltime, degree seeking, first year student; Have completed and submitted their application by the deadline; and Have the following forms completed and submitted by the deadline on their behalf; A nominator Form-an evaluation of the student s academic record, and; A recommender Form-an evaluation of the student s community service and leadership activities

9 Amazon Student is inviting its members and high school seniors to apply for a merit based scholarship now through November 20, Fifty student applicants will be chosen based on their GPA, community service and leadership activities. The winners will receive a $5,000 scholarship for tuition and $500 to spend on textbooks through Amazon.com. For more information or to apply, visit the Amazon Student Scholarship page. The Belk Scholarship recognizes and rewards students of demonstrated superior intellectual and personal achievement and significant leadership ability. Up to eight Belk Scholars will be chosen in Davidson s Class of 2020, each receiving an annually renewable scholarship equivalent to the college s comprehensive fees (valued in at 60,119.00). In addition, each scholar receives two special study stipends (up to $3,000 per stipend) to pursue international study and other enrichment opportunities. Georgia Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture Scholarship for Agriculture The purpose of the Scholarship for Agriculture is to assist outstanding students who plan to pursue a career focusing on agriculture and who exhibit leadership skills for active involvement in the agriculture sector. To be eligible, applicant must: Be a Georgia resident. Majoring in agriculture and environmental sciences, family and consumer science or a related agriculture field. Finish high school within the year student is applying or the scholarship. Be engaged in leadership activities in high school. Must be planning to enroll in a unit of The University System of Georgia or Berry College during the academic year. Have a minimum 3.0 GPA

Georgia Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture Technical College Scholarship for Agriculture 2016 The purpose of the Technical College Scholarship for Agriculture is to assist outstanding students who plan to pursue a career focusing on agriculture from a technical school or program. To be eligible, applicant must: Be a Georgia resident. Majoring in agriculture or agriculturally related field of study. Finish high school within the year student is applying or the scholarship. Be engaged in leadership activities in high school. Must be planning to enroll in a technical college during the academic year.
12 Have a minimum 2.8 GPA Amount: The Foundation will award ten scholarships of $1,000 each. Scholarship checks will be sent to the technical college as confirmed by the recipient and placed in their college account. Georgia Farm Bureau Foundation for UGA College of Veterinary Medicine Scholarship 2016 The purpose of the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine Scholarship 2016 is to assist outstanding students who elected to focus on the area of large animal/food animal practice. To be eligible, applicant must: Be a Georgia resident. Be a current Veterinary Medicine student who is specializing in large animal/food animal practice. Have a minimum 3.0 GPA Amount: The Foundation will award two scholarships of $2,500 each. Scholarship checks will be sent to the college or university as confirmed by the recipient and placed in their college account. 13 Georgia Farm Bureau Foundation for Rising Junior/Senior Scholarship for Agriculture 2016 The purpose of the Rising College Junior/Senior Scholarship for Agriculture 2016 is to assist outstanding students who have been pursuing an academic career focusing on agriculture and who have exhibited leadership skills for active involvement in the agriculture sector while in college. To be eligible, applicant must: Be a Georgia resident. Be majoring in agriculture and environmental sciences, family and consumer sciences or a related agriculture field. Be a current college sophomore or junior with at least two semesters of college work remaining to receive their undergraduate degree from a unit of The University System of Georgia or Berry College. Be engaged in leadership activities in college. Have a minimum 3.0 GPA
