1 Eman Schools Science Fair 2016 When:In class presentations-monday January 25 th, 2016 Judging: Tuesday-Friday January 26 th -29 th, 2016 Mandatory Grades: NONE!(Extra Credit: Score Avg % on score sheets is ½ grade inflation; 80% and up 1 full grade inflation) Decision will be reviewed annually! All students will be judged by 3-4 judges based on same rubric. Winners-Friday Feb. 5 th, 2016-Morning Assembly Regional -(3 from each grade are eligible to advance- Marian University 3/5 & 3/12) State (March 3/19)

Permitted, except at International Level including lab you worked at. BRING Sample equipment, such as your laboratory apparatus or your invention. NO Sharp items. Photo release of family members in pics Rules differ at each fair. NO Human/animal parts or body fluids (e.g. urine, blood) NO Soil, sand, or rock samples except in a sealed Petri dish or baggie! NO waste samples except if permanently encased in slab of acrylic

9 Remember! A picture speaks a thousand words! Use photos or draw diagrams to present non-numerical data, to propose models that explain your results, or just to show your experimental setup. But, don't put text on top of photographs or images. It can be very difficult to read.

Differences in Judging? Grades 1 & 2- More emphasis placed on Visuals and Interview- Grades 3 & UP- Major emphasis placed on Research & Scientific Method.

15 Broadcom Masters-(6 th -8 th Grades) Broadcom Masters-Washington D.C The national science, technology, engineering and math competition for U.S. 6th, 7th and 8th graders, the Broadcom MASTERS competition (which stands for Broadcom Math, Applied Science, Technology and Engineering for Rising Stars) will inspire and encourage the nation's young scientists, engineers and innovators of the future. (Sponsor until 2016!) From local Regional Fairs-300 Semifinalists will be selected along with 30 Finalists who win an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., where they will compete for awards and prizes, including the top education award of $25,000 presented by the Samueli Foundation, a gift of Susan and Henry Samueli, a founder of Broadcom Corporation.
