2 Health System Transformation The US health system consisting of public health, health care, insurance, and other sectors is undergoing a critical transformation in both financing and service delivery. These changes include improving the efficiency and effectiveness of health organizations and services, as well as increasing connections and collaborations among public health, health care, and other sectors. 2

4 MDHHS Merger Our vision for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is to promote better health outcomes, reduce health risks, and support stable and safe families while encouraging self-sufficiency. The creation of the new department is a natural next step in our efforts to coordinate our systems, be better aligned internally, and build upon much of the successful partnerships we already have together. 4

12 Healthy Michigan Plan LANSING, Mich. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services today submitted the second Healthy Michigan Plan waiver to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services the next step to ensure the Healthy Michigan Plan is aligned with state law and allow for the continuation of the program which currently provides health care coverage for nearly 600,000 previously uninsured residents. 12
