2 Event information The IOSH Ireland South Branch is pleased to confirm details of an upcoming full day conference which will be looking at Resilience in Safety in Times of Change, taking place at the Rochestown Park Hotel in Cork on the 14th of February Event overview Over the past century, societies and working conditions have changed dramatically and the speed appears to be continuing to accelerate. Along with developing technology and research, new risks and hazards have evolved, but so too has our understanding and ability to combat them. In safety, one size does not fit all, and one approach doesn t work for every situation. Given the hundreds and thousands of tools, techniques, practices, and approaches available to a safety leader, how does one decide what is best for a specific project, team or company. Is there a way to cut through the mass of information and choose an approach that allows flexibility, adaptability, and resilience? With this event, we plan to inform attendees of the latest advances in health and safety research and implementation, and will equip them to bring about positive changes within their organisations leading to safer places and systems of work and the protection of health, safety and wellbeing of the people who work within them. Who should attend This event is very much aimed at both members and nonmembers of IOSH, and any person with an interest in health and safety, including construction health and safety. It will benefit health and safety managers, safety officers and other people including IOSH members of all grades with an interest in managing safety and keeping up to date with current best practice. Following the event you will be able to demonstrate the importance of adaptive systems and keeping organisational learning alive, whilst also exploring what happens when an organisation dares to think about safety differently, deviating from outdated approaches to safety and introducing new ways of thinking. This event boasts a fantastic line-up of world-renowned speakers, including Stephen Carver, Professor Dave Snowdon, Helen Rawlinston, Richard Grogan, Dr Helen Russell and Tim Dowling, all of which will be providing vital information on: - the importance of communication and leadership around complex strategic safety and adaptive systems - change management and our approach to managing safety within organisations - relevant legal policies around health and safety laws, including the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Acts and the Organisation of Working Time Act - trends in the construction industry and work related injury and illness - HSA inspections and trends, and how to address issues What you need to know As with all IOSH events, any value gained from attending this event can be recorded in your CPD portfolio. Payment terms Full payment must be received prior to the event to secure your place. In the event that a booking hasn t been paid in full by 07 February 2018, the booking will be removed and your place on the event withdrawn. Cancellation policy and refunds Please let us know in writing if you need to cancel your booking by sending an to bookings@iosh.com, or a letter to the Bookings team, IOSH, The Grange, Highfield Drive, Wigston, Leicestershire, LE18 1NN, UK. Cancellations are subject to the following terms: - Cancellations received within seven working days of booking (a cooling off period) will receive a full refund - Cancellations received at least eight or more weeks (40 or more working days) from the event will receive a 50% refund - Cancellations between four and eight weeks (20 39 working days) from the event will receive a 25% refund - Cancellations less than four weeks (19 working days) from the event will not receive a refund. If we have to cancel an event, we will always endeavour to give a full refund of your event fee or, if you prefer, transfer your booking to a similar event.
