Our programme covers a number of topics including; teaching and training in the workplace, assessment and feedback, educational supervision and appraisal. The course content is mapped to the GMC s seven domains for the recognition and approval of trainers. Participation in the courses will provide supporting evidence towards the GMC approval process for trainers. Leadership and Management Personal Effectiveness 21 September 2018 An Introduction 2-26 September March May 2019 Working Well in Teams and Making an Impact 14 November 2018 Leading and Managing Change February 2019 Running throughout the year, the Leadership and Management series of events offer a range of interactive workshops designed specifically for anaesthetists with a balance of plenary sessions, group work and exercises with the emphasis on real life issues, open discussions, up-to-date information and one-to-one discussions. The format of mixed plenary sessions with workshops allows plenty of opportunity for discussion and facilitated exercises on specific skills eg negotiation, communication and personal development planning.

5 Calendar of events CPD Study Days March 2019 Our CPD Study Days are designed for busy doctors, to efficiently maintain competence and aid with revalidation in anaesthetic and surgical practice. 10 This event provides updates on new treatments and techniques, including top tips on improving your performance, from specialists in the clinical field. You will also have access to experts who will equip you with new skills to better cope with the demands of everyday working life. Cardiac Disease and Anaesthesia 3-4 April 2019 Patients with heart disease can present on any elective list, and also as emergencies. The aim of this two-day event is to explore areas of clinical importance for all practicing anaesthetists. 10 The event greatly benefits from presentations by expert cardiologists, anaesthetists and intensivists, who bring a truly multidisciplinary approach to complex problems and make it easier to better understand the pathophysiology of heart disease and how to manage patients with often intricate problems. The programme will explore a wide range of topics with plenty of opportunity to question the experts. Patient Safety in Perioperative Practice 31 January 2019 Patient safety is one of the most important aspects in your role as an anaesthetist. Throughout the day we will discuss patient safety across the perioperative pathway, including the barriers to delivering safe perioperative care, and strategies on how to overcome them. Topics covered include: technology to improve safety, airway safety - lessons learnt, what to do when you are involved in a patient safety incident and the future of patient safety. The day will build upon your existing knowledge and clinical practice to make your systems, processes and organisations safer for your patients. Delegate feedback from our previous events: Fantastic programme, with innovative and enlightening speakers Re-energised me to use the proven methods for patient safety and gave me increased understanding of their potential and shortfalls

The period of time absent from work can at times cause a feeling of reduced confidence and lack of certainty about your ability to perform a particular job when you return to work. Our GASAgain courses provide strategies for managing a return to work. Not only are there simulation scenarios to refresh your skills, but we also provide a series of workshops underpinned by short lectures to update you on the latest in the world of anaesthesia.
