See page for the number of training days required for each licensure type. Applications must be submitted to the ffice of ducation and Data Management (DM) by August, 08. lass size is limited. Municipal employees who qualify will be given preference for admittance into the re icensure raining rogram. f you re accepted into the program, you ll receive an acceptance letter from DM by August, 08. he letter will include class dates, times and directions. lass notes will be provided in electronic format; you are responsible for prin ng your own class notes, or you can bring a laptop to class.

2 Q You must document that you meet the requirements for licensure. For example, if you hold a trade license, send a copy of the license; if you re a certified engineer, send a copy of the certification. You may want to submit your tran script or a list of construc on related courses you completed toward your degree. Applica ons that are incom plete and w ithout appropriate documentation will be returned without review. here are no fees for taking the exam or the training, but you must purchase your own code books. See below for a list of books required by license type. An overall score of (75% for uilding fficials) and a score of on each code book sec on exam is required for licensure. See the chart below for details. You have three attempts to pass the exam, including code book sec on retakes. Feel free to use extra sheets of paper or add a achments, including your resume, project summaries, job specs, etc. 6 Date When applying for uilding fficial or Assistant uilding fficial licensure through the Quarterly xam or the re icensure raining rogram, remember that a local building official deals with all of the different construc on trades and design professions. ven though you may have many years of wood frame construction experience building new homes or remodeling, you must also have experience with fire resis ve, noncombus ble, ordinary and heavy timber construction. A building official has the responsibilities associated with building permits, plan reviews and inspec ons of buildings and structures proposed and constructed within their municipality. his includes occupancies such as residen al, assembly, mercan le, factories, storage, educa onal, business and others. Remember to document your commercial construc on experience in addi on to your residen al construc on experience. For the other license sub categories, demonstrated technical abilities and knowledge, application of appropriate codes and standards, and related plan review skills are key to detailing how you meet each of the numbered requirements.
