2 This profile is a comprehensive document, detailing all the learning opportunities available in a specific clinical area. It is intended that students and mentors select the appropriate opportunities to help the students to meet the specified competencies for particular placements. 5 WORKING HOURS PHILOSOPHY OF CARE Craigavon is staffed 24hours a day with Qualified Nurses and Nursing Assistants Copy included in Education File MODEL OF NURSING ORGANISATION OF NURSING CARE Care plans are based on Roper Logan and Tierney s Activities of Daily Living All clients accessing the service are screened through the referral process including Craigavon s protocol and criteria resulting in assessment period at Craigavon. All clients will be allocated a named nurse to manage their care. Craigavon Learning Disabilities PROFILE OF LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES 5

6 Students have the opportunity to: Observe and participate in the assessment of patients and in the planning, implementation and evaluation of care. Liaise and work with other members of the multi-disciplinary team e.g. G.Ps speech and language therapists etc Health facilitation team day centres families and carers Access statutory and voluntary agencies e.g. social services department, Observe and assist in all nursing duties within Craigavon Access journal articles which are relevant to their placement.
