The device will consist of a mobile app in conjunction with a bluetooth-enabled blood pressure cuff and heart rate monitor to measure outpatient vitals and transfer those readings to a nurse database. Ideally, this will decrease or eliminate patient readmission postpartum, especially relating to hypertension. The app will provide a medium for physician-patient interaction, patient monitoring and video conference with healthcare specialists (nurses, doctors, etc.). Last Week Goals Complete the log-in screen coding Continue with app development Contact DoIT about licensing options for students Contact Dr. Hoppe about getting a blood pressure cuff to which the app can connect Summary of Team Roles Accomplishments was in contact with Dr. Hoppe and clarified some questions that came up in our last advisor meeting. Dr. Hoppe said that she would like a bluetooth scale option, along with the standard blood pressure and heart rate cuff. IRB approval is not currently necessary but will be if we want to conduct patient tests. She also asked us to take a look at user statistics for apple and android devices.

2 Summary of Design Accomplishments The team looked into different coding methods beside X-code for our app. This could possible allow our team to code an app for ios and android devices simultaneously while allowing multiple users to edit code together. and created the basic format for majority of the screens of the app The team used feedback from peers and professor Tompkins to improve the report and the presentation. This Week s Goals/ Individual Goals and will add in background code to make the screens interact as they are intended Continue with overall app development Project Difficulties Setting up a cooperative environment to code the app proved to be more difficult than we thought. Thus, we team code using the pair programming guidelines taught in UW Computer Science courses as well as via sharing the code on Google Docs. After creating the LogIn screen, formatting the app to ensure that the spacing is consistent across devices (different models of iphone, ipad, etc.) was challenging and is something we are continuing to figure out. Finding a program that would allow our group to work collaboratively without paying large sums for a monthly license.
