3 SLC Background SLC are a UK public sector organisation established to provide financial services, in terms of loans and grants to over 1 million students annually within the UK. One of the key roles is to deliver financial support to eligible students pursuing higher education. Our other key responsibility is the administration of the collection of repayments from over 2 million customers no longer in Higher Education.
4 UCAS Background UCAS is responsible for managing applications to Higher Education courses across the UK. UCAS process over 2 million applications for full time undergraduate courses each year and also run the application services for postgraduate taught courses (UKPASS), postgraduate teacher training (GTTR) and music conservatoires (CUKAS). UCAS is a registered charity which has been helping applicants g y p g pp access HE since the 1960s.

Helps to promote data sharing which helps improves efficiency for the SLC by promoting electronic data sharing to more applicants. Allows UCAS/SLC to identify those interested in applying for student finance and communicate with them. Applicants can be sent a reminder of when to apply for student finance and dthat tthey can use Track.

24 Reminder s UCAS will send a reminder on how and when to apply for Student Finance, to each applicant that requested one during their Apply 2012/13 application. To date over 467,000 applicants have requested the reminder . These will be sent to applicants served by Student Finance England ; Student Finance Wales and Student Finance Northern Ireland to accommodate the different opening dates for application. A similar arrangement is being negotiated with the Student Awards A similar arrangement is being negotiated with the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) for applicants domiciled in Scotland (for next year YOE 2013).

26 Future plans The White Paper on Higher Education: Students at the Heart of the System [June 2011] We have asked the SLC and UCAS to develop a single application portal and integrated application processes for both higher education and student finance applications, which would provide a seamless customer experience where data common to both applications is entered only once.
