3 Members and guests were introduced to the Committee. Dr. Carol Richards, Présidente du groupe de travail sur la réadaptation AVC, and the Stroke Coordination Committee members were welcomed to the meeting. 1. Approval of Minutes from previous meeting (May 28, 2013) The minutes were approved. 2. Presentation and Discussions by Dr. Carol Richards, Présidente du groupe de travail sur la réadaptation AVC: Dr. Richards presented on : «Trajectoires de services de réadaptation post-avc: Un continuum centré sur la personne» (Presentation circulated previously). Mrs. Francine Dupuis, PDG CSSS Cavendish, mentioned that Accreditation Canada has awarded, on July , the CSSS Cavendish Richardson Hospital the Distinction Program for its leadership regarding quality of services to the AVC patients. F. Dupuis would be quite willing to share the expertise and experience of the CSSS Cavendish to the groupe de travail sur la réadaptation AVC. Discussion ensued. L. Dufresne noted that pilot projects would be implemented. He also suggested to communicate with Dr. Louise Clement, the key leader at the MSSS in this dossier, for additional guidance and support. Dr. Richards was thanked for her presentation on «Trajectoires de services de réadaptation post-avc: Un continuum centré sur la personne» 3. Business arising from previous minutes RUIS McGill Telehealth update The RUIS McGill Telehealth update was circulated with the agenda. S. Benaroya summarized the discussion that took place at the Table de coordination nationale des RUIS on September 5, He noted that Reynald Lemieux is in charge of the Telehealth clinical governance dossier. R. Lemieux is consulting with the Telehealth teams of the four RUIS as well as with the ASSS concerning future steps. A report will be forthcoming in the coming months. RUIS McGill Symposium Next Steps J. Boissonneault provided a summary on the progress of the planning for the RUIS McGill Symposium. He noted that the RUIS McGill and the ASSS Abitibi- Témiscamingue teams have been collaborating extensively on the organization of the symposium: September 12, 2013 Page 3 of 5
4 Dates retained for the RUIS McGill Symposium in Abitibi Témiscamingue are May 12 and 13, The Theme selected is: o RUIS McGill in the regions: the ties that unify us» o RUIS McGill en région: les liens qui nous unissent» The RUIS McGill Steering Committee members have been invited to save these dates in their calendars, and asked to provide their comments and suggestions to R. Ziadé. Committee members agreed to have the Symposium be a main subject on the agenda of the next RUIS McGill Steering Committee. Cochlear implants The joint UdeM-McGill proposal for a Cochlear Implant Program has received ASSSM support. D. McCann, PDG of the ASSSM, has submitted a letter of support to the MSSS on July 17, 2013 (letter attached to minutes). 4. Priorities of the Direction générale des services de santé et médecine universitaire, MSSS S. Benaroya summarized the MSSS priorities as presented by Dr. Louis Couture, Sous-ministre adjoint, Direction générale des services de santé et médecine universitaire MSSS, at the Table de coordination nationale des RUIS on Septembre 5th, The priorities include: Primary care organization, with priority on the groupes de médecine familiale (GMF), the action plan for mental health, and the management of chronic diseases; Improved access to technical platforms and specialist consultations for primary care patients; Continued deployment of unités de médecine familiale (UMF) in order to accommodate the expected number of family medicine residents in For this purpose, each UMF will also be a GMF; Flexible rules of distribution of health care professionals in order to meet specific needs. Relevance of the organization of services and medical interventions (guides de pratique) for greater efficiency. Dr. Couture will be invited at a future meeting of the RUIS McGill Steering Committee. 5. Updates on ongoing projects: Documents were circulated with the agenda regarding the following ministerial projects: Chronic Pain; Stroke; Cognitive Disorders; OPTILAB. September 12, 2013 Page 4 of 5
5 6. RUIS McGill Ethics Review for Multicenter Research Trials S. Benaroya summarized the proposals submitted to the MSSS as well as the next steps to be undertaken. N. Rinfret mentioned that the MUHC is reducing the number of its nine Research Ethic Boards. 7. Regions Priorities Abitibi-Témiscamingue: Integrated network of healthcare within RUIS McGill. Outaouais: The strengthening of the primary care network; Primary Care; Medical Education in collaboration with McGill University; Repatriation of the clientele from Ontario. Monteregie: Repatriation of the «450» clientèle; DCI - Dossier Clinique informatique. Nunavik: Create a new center in order to coordinate the stay of the Inuit receiving health care in Montreal. The center will provide accommodation, transport and the services of interpreters, and nurses. 8. Varia L. McVey noted that the MSSS has selected three organisations within RUIS McGill for phase 2 of the MSSS lean project: CSSS Dorval-Lachine-Lasalle; CSSS Gatineau; Institut universitaire en santé mentale Douglas. It is suggested to invite the leaders of these institutions to present on the dossier at a future RUIS McGill Steering Committee meeting. 9.
