5 Simulation in California Bay Area Simulation Collaborative (BASC) was first formal group led by the CINHC Leveraging the work in the Bay Area, Kaiser Permanente Community Benefits funded this project Several other collaboratives forming California Simulation Alliance (CSA) has been evolving for over a year

9 Current Research CINHC/BASC led a study completed in March, 2010 Does high fidelity simulation increase critical thinking skills of nursing students in pre-licensure programs? 5 schools (2 BSN, 3 ADN) Used the HSRT tool by Facione CINHC,

11 Regional Simulation Centers Model Seven centers in the Bay Area Concept is that more than 2 partners will use the RSC for training in the community All centers are interdisciplinary Three partially funded by Moore Foundation Samuel Merritt University Washington Hospital Marin County (at College of Marin) CINHC,

16 California Simulation Alliance (CSA) CINHC leads the CSA Key stakeholders include: BRN, EDD, Chancellor s office, RHORC, CHA, HCNCC and others Purpose of CSA is to become a cohesive voice for simulation in California Goal is to create a common language for simulation in both schools/hospitals and healthcare organizations Through the CINHC website ( the CSA has several web pages
