2 Introduction Welcome to Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust Radiology Services Directorate; Radiology Services are provided across the Trust Four hospitals at North Manchester General, Royal Oldham, Fairfield General (Bury) and Rochdale Infirmary. Our team of Consultant Radiologists work at North Manchester, Royal Oldham and Fairfield General and provide outreach services to Rochdale Infirmary, Our Consultants are supported by a team of 275 staff which includes Sonographers, Clinical Specialists, Advanced Practitioners and Radiographers. Consultants all have a dedicated Medical PA who is shared with other named colleagues; the department is completely digital with voice recognition in use in every area. The Directorate has a wealth of state of the art equipment including three 160 slice Toshiba CT scanners, a 128 slice CT and 64 slice CT both also Toshiba. It has three MRI scanners two GE and the newest at the Royal Oldham site is Siemens. The new purpose built Nuclear Medicine department at North Manchester houses two GE Infinia Gamma Cameras. The Directorate also boasts two dedicated Interventional suites at North Manchester and Royal Oldham and Fluoroscopy suites at all sites except Rochdale. The Directorate has a robust equipment replacement program and is scheduled to purchase 12 new Ultrasound machines in December 2013 for Ante-Natal, General Ultrasound and Breast Services; these are in addition to the 6 new machines purchased in March 2013 and 5 due to be purchased in The attached booklet highlights some of the speciality areas where we are enhancing the Consultant Radiologists teams.

4 Diagnostic Consultant Radiology Team There are currently 21 Consultants in the Diagnostic Radiology team with a broad range of sub-speciality interests. The Directorate strives to develop sub-speciality teams within each discipline supported by Clinical Specialists, Advanced Practitioners, Consultant Radiographer and Sonographers. The optimum number of consultants within each team is usually three ensuring the speciality has cross-cover for leave and MDT meetings. The following teams are seeking new members: Paediatrics Dr Amonkar is the Lead Radiologist for Paediatrics and is supported by Dr Sunder, Dr Sapundzieski and Dr Swainson. Paediatrics is a growing area for the Trust with both a Level 2 and Level 3 Neo-natal unit in two of its hospitals. Dr Amonkar works closely with the Manchester Children s Hospital and is constantly striving to enhance the Trust paediatrics services. The Consultant team is supported by a strong team of Sonographers. In late 2014 the team plan to expand the range of paediatric MR services provided at the Trust to include Paediatric Sedated MR. Head and Neck Imaging Dr Desai is the Lead Radiologist for Head and Neck Imaging and is supported by Dr Janousek, Dr Shajahan and Clinical Specialist Sonographer, Lorraine Edwards. Tertiary referral Head and Neck Cancer services are centralised at the North Manchester Hospital site alongside Maxillo Facial services. ENT Surgery is provided from the Fairfield Hospital site.

5 Gynaecology and Genito-urinary imaging Dr Limdi is the Lead Radiologist for Gynaecology imaging and Dr Jeyagopal for GU imaging; they are supported by Dr Sunder. Gynaecology and GU imaging is fast growing area within the trust; both specialities support local Cancer MDT s and the Specialist Network MDT hosted by Central Manchester Foundation Trust. The Trust continues to provide Gynaecology and Urology surgery. Musculo-Skeletal Imaging Dr Joshi is the Lead Radiologist for MSK imaging and is supported by Dr Desai, Dr Jeyagopal, Dr Annamalaisamy and Dr Janousek and Clinical Specialist Sonographer Angela Booth. The team are also supported by a team of Advanced Practitioners in Trauma and MSK reporting headed by Paul Barker. The Trust provides imaging services to the local MSK CATS services in Oldham as well as other primary care services across the Trust population; this is an area of significant growth. Thoracic Imaging The Lead Radiologist for Thoracic imaging is Dr Allen, supported by Dr Mather, Dr Annamalaisamy and Dr Dutta. The team is supported by Advanced Practitioner Sandra Monks. The Trust Lung Cancer services are provided from Fairfield and North Manchester hospitals; the North Manchester hospital also hosts the regional Infectious Diseases unit and provides a dedicated lung fibrosis service.

6 Interventional Radiology Team The Clinical Lead for Intervention Radiology Services is Dr Sibanda; he is supported by Dr Bashaeb, Dr Tam, Dr Sherazi and Dr Lee-Cheung. The team provide intervention services at North Manchester to support GI, HPB and Urology services and at Royal Oldham to support one of three Vascular Units in Greater Manchester. The Consultant team is supported by Matron Heather Andrew and her team of interventional radiographers and nurses. The Directorate has recently received new investment to increase the interventional nursing establishment by three and radiographers by two. The Trust has a dedicated Interventional Radiology On-Call supported by IR nurses and radiographers. Consultants posts at Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust Consultant Radiologists are encouraged to develop a second sub-speciality interest and support the development of Clinical Specialist, Sonography and Advanced Practice teams. Consultant job plans are set at a minimum of 10 PA s except for part time contracts which range from 5-9 PA s per week. There is opportunity to increase job plans to 11 or 12 PA s in some specialities due to the growing workload; additional SPA is also considered for structured service development and lead roles. Consultants are encouraged to contribute to the management of the Radiology service and the Clinical Director has recently introduced trustwide Radiologist meetings and Sub-Speciality leads meetings which run alternate months. The North Manchester site has one of the most successful ST training schemes in the North West.

7 Message from the Radiology Clinical Director Part of the unique selling point of the Pennine Acute NHS Hospitals Trust is the combination of its large size but non-university DGH status. Professionally this provides for a busy but extremely varied and interesting clinical experience, incorporating both subspecialty and general workload in a friendly and supportive environment. The Directorate comprises a large clinical team of committed and ambitious staff who are highly focused on quality and patient care and the Directorate is keen to attract like minded applicants.
