8 Request a Duke Click Get this Title Request a book that is currently checked out, and/or request that the book be delivered to you at DUSON. Request a Duke Sign in with your Duke Net ID & Password Click Request Request a Duke Change Location to MCL/SON Only Click Place Hold/Recall Request Location for picking up & returning books: DUSON Office of Admissions & Student Services. When returning books, call the Library & tell them you have a pick up to avoid overdue fines! 8

EBP (Evidence Based Practice) tab Click on the icon to return to the Library s Home page Find evidencebased answers at the point of care FAST using UpToDate or Nursing Consult. Use PubMed, Cochrane Library & CINAL to search for evidencebased info. Learn more about EBP. Find Articles tab Find links to core databases for searching the nursing literature, including PubMed & CINAHL. For a complete list of databases, click on the Databases link. 13

14 Core Databases for the Biomedical Journal Literature PUBMED National Library of Medicine search system for MEDLINE database Biomedical journal literature; includes important nursing journals Also: clinical medicine, dentistry, basic sciences, health services research > 21 million references back to late 1940 s CINAHL Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature Available through EBSCOhost platform Focuses on nursing, PT, PA, consumer health literature Some coverage of core medical journals > 5 million references, searchable back to 1980 s Find Articles tab Single Citation Matcher If you re trying to find a specific article, Single Citation Matcher is the quickest & easiest way. Single Citation Matcher Enter whatever information you have into the appropriate fields & click Search. If possible, enter the Journal name, Date, Volume & First page number. 14

15 Single Citation Matcher To access full text, click on DUMCL Online. If that doesn t work, try Get (and vice versa). If there is only Get Duke, click on that to check availability. Clinical Tools tab Click on Clinical Tools. This opens a new guide. The Clinical Tools Guide provides a listing of the most popular resources for clinicians. Clinical Searcher is a unique feature of the Clinical Tools page. It allows you to search across multiple resources simultaneously. Clinical Tools page Clinical Searcher Enter the Patient Problem and Intervention, and click Search. Searches across UpToDate, Cochrane Library, Nursing Consult, PubMed & more. Best way to find the best evidence to answer clinical questions FAST. Use back button to return to Nursing Tools. 15

16 E Books & Guidelines tabs E Books: Links to E Books that the Library subscribes to. We currently subscribe to 60+ full text nursing E Books. Guidelines: Links to resources for finding evidence based clinical practice guidelines. Library Info, Tests & Scales, Copyright tabs Library Info: Hours, Parking, News, Blog Tests & Scales: Links to a guide with tips for finding testing instruments, questionnaires & scales. Copyright: Basic info for students about copyright. APA/EndNote tab Features online APA Style guides, EndNote video tutorials & contact info for DUSON writing help. Citation Builder: Choose type of citation (book, article, etc.). Then choose APA 6. Enter reference information into appropriate fields & click Submit. Copy & paste formatted citation into your paper. 16
