2 About Our Program 7 quarters/21 months Part time program designed for students currently employed in healthcare who are seeking careers in nursing

3 Program Format On-line/hybrid classes Class meetings 1-2 evenings per week (Monday/Wednesday 4-8) Clinical practica at regional healthcare facilities (day or evening shifts) 10 credit hours per quarter

4 Online Learning Mandatory Computer Skills / Technology Computer system to adequately support online classroom Reliable Internet connection Create, save, find and manage computer files Access and Internet Conduct internet searches Send and receive attachments Computer resources available on campus

5 Online Learning Course work though Canvas at EdCC Have a back up plan if technology fails Communicate with instructor Commitment / self motivation / self discipline Time management Study and complete assignments Commit at least hours per week to course work Log in to Canvas regularly at least 3 times per week

6 Clinical Experiences Clinical practicum begins in the second quarter of the program Requirements for clinical placement National and WA state criminal background checks (approx cost $80.00) Documentation of Immunizations Health Care Provider CPR Must be renewed annually

7 ATI Examination ATI Testing Assessment test similar to NCLEX (national nursing licensing exam) format Ongoing assessment of progress and knowledge Preparation for NCLEX success Students must be successful in coursework and ATI testing to progress in the program ATI NCLEX Preparation Course available during 7 th quarter.

8 Admission Requirements Pre-requisite classes Overall minimum GPA: 2.75 Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) TEAS V Test High School diploma/ged Six months recent patient care experience Professional Recommendations 2 needed (one from faculty/one from employer)

9 Prerequisite Classes ENGL& 101 English Composition MATH 090 Intermediate Algebra BIOL& 241 Anatomy and Physiology I BIOL& 242 Anatomy and Physiology II PSYCH& 200 Lifespan Psychology Minimum GPA 2.75

10 Nursing Assistant Certification Must have current WA state certification Can receive CNA training at EdCC or other locations Medical Assistant certification will not substitute

11 Patient Care Experience Documented 6 months recent experience in: Direct patient care experience Nursing assistant Medical Assistant Surgical technician If experience is not as a nursing assistant valid CNA certification is still required.

12 Computer Skills Verification Proficiency in computer skills required Successful completion of computer courses -or- Successful completion of online courses Familiarity with course management software such as Canvas, Blackboard, Angel, or Moodle preferred

13 TEAS Examination TEAS V Test of Essential Academic Skills TEAS is a 170 question multiple-choice assessment of basic academic knowledge in reading, mathematics, science and English and language usage. The objectives assessed on the TEAS exam are those which nurse educators feel are most appropriate and relevant to measure entry level skills and abilities of nursing program applicants

Your ATI username and password Register at Photo ID - government issued ID with signature only (passport, driver s license or state ID card, not EdCC student ID) You will pay $35.00 by credit card to ATI and a $30.00 proctor fee to EdCC. Create a Focused Review: Sign in to atitesting.com, click My Results and Proctored Assessments Locate the TEAS test and click on the Focused Review icon Select the areas your review should cover and click Create Focused Review Choose from a printable PDF review or Web Page You can close the Focused Review and return to the material to study at another time
