17 CPHG Satellite- Why? To generate wider global representation for the CPHG. To attract and mentor reviewers from non represented regions. To generate reviews relevant and required in addressing problems of LMIC s. To create wider evidence pool of effect of public health intervention in LMIC s.

18 Why in India? a) The presence of two members of the CPHG editorial board (Sree & Ruhi Saith) b) The setting up of a number of public health training institutions c) Many institutions willing to support the initiative

19 Outcome of Exploratory meeting There was unanimous support for a CPHG satellite Initial proposed activities of the satellite are a) Capacity building and training (modules on evidence based public health, knowledge translation systematic reviews) b) Identifying few questions relevance to the region and trying to get reviews off the ground for these questions.

20 Public Health Evidence South Asia The satellite has been registered; located at Manipal University (supported by an endowment Chair Sree) Situated within the broader umbrella of PHESA Evidence synthesis (systematic reviews). Primary research (Including methodological development). Knowledge translation (i.e. linking evidence to policy).
