4 About the Institute of Hospitality in HealthCare Ltd and the National Conference The Institute of Hospitality in HealthCare Ltd (IHHC) is a not for profit Association dedicated to improving the professionalism and quality of Support Services in the Health and Aged Care Industry. The National Board and State Committees are comprised of professionals from within the Industry dedicated to sharing their passion and expertise with others through conferences, seminars and a variety of networking events. Each year the IHHC hosts a National, (and at regular intervals, International) Conference, bringing together delegates from a variety of health and aged care organisations. Delegates include Support Service Managers, Foodservice Managers, Executive Chefs, Cleaning, Laundry and Environmental Services Managers and other professionals engaged in delivering a variety of services to the Health and Aged Care Industry. The Organising Committee is committed to engaging with delegates through an energising and informative program of speakers covering a wide variety of topics relevant to our Industry. Speakers will enjoy significant contact with delegates during the conference and social events and receive acknowledgement prior to, during and after the conference through conference materials and the IHHC website. The Committee invites you to take the time to consider the benefits of being associated with the IHHC, an organisation recognised both nationally and internationally as a leader in their field. We look forward to your participation in this premier industry event, and to welcoming you to Melbourne in August IHHC Membership IHHC members are employed in managerial and supervisory positions within the Support Services Departments of health and aged care facilities. Their areas of responsibilities may include; catering, cleaning, environmental services, laundry, maintenance and porterage. In addition, a number of members are involved in the areas of dietetics and nutrition. Their focus on further development and education means they benefit from attending IHHC events, to better not only their own organisation and self but the Healthcare Industry as a whole. The IHHC National Conference provides a forum for our members, our trade supporters and industry experts to come together to exchange ideas, discuss the latest in industry innovation and most importantly, develop lasting professional relationships. IHHC International Alliance The IHHC are founding members of the international alliance, which formed HealthCare Caterers International (HCI) Global Alliance. The world is a large place; however, technology now allows us to share common perspectives, common issues and address common needs with health care colleagues around the world. HCI represents over 25,000 caterers and hospitality managers in health care industries. 4

7 Terms and Conditions Selection Criteria Relevance to Conference Theme National relevance and applicability Innovation and freshness of approach Experience of speaker Papers that are based on original research and experiences Priority will be given to abstracts which are able to clearly demonstrate improved outcomes and/or cost efficiencies. In meeting this requirement, it is not necessary to disclose actual dollar savings - percentage improvements are acceptable Guidelines for Abstracts 1. Abstracts should focus on the practical implementation of a project where the outcomes have led to change (i.e. service delivery change, management efficiencies, improved quality and/or safety outcomes etc.) 2. Abstracts should be submitted in Microsoft Word Format 3. Font Calibri 10 point 4. Single line spacing 5. Clearly indicate at the top of the page both the category of your presentation and the title. 6. Title should be in capitals. 7. Authors names should be detailed with the name of the presenting author(s) underlined. 8. Include full contact details of the presenting author(s) including, phone, & postal address) 9. Abbreviations may be used but must be spelt out in full at the first mention followed by the abbreviation in parentheses. 10. Applicants are encouraged to submit their abstract in accordance with the attached template. 11. No more than 500 words Please note: The decision of the panel in the selection of abstracts will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. Presentation The presenters of accepted abstracts will be requried to submit a PowerPoint of their presentation prior to the conference and consent to: (a) The publication of their abstract and contact details, in the conference manual (b) The electronic distribution of their PowerPoint presentation (in PDF Format) to conference participants and (c) Photographs and/or interviews Presentations will be of approximately 40 minutes duration with 5 minutes allocated at the conclusion of the presentation for delegates to address questions to the presenter. Presenting authors will receive one complimentary full registration (includes attendance at Conference Dinner and Welcome Reception) per paper presented. Please note, travel and accommodation expenses will be at the presenters cost. Additional presenters for a paper will need to attent at their own cost. Interstate and international presenters and those from smaller facilities are encouraged to participate.
