1 Minutes of the Committee Meeting held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the 25 th November, 2015, at the Lions Club Rooms, High Street Wedderburn. Present: Apologies: J. Benaim; G. Deimos; R. Vella; A. Randall That the Treasurer s report be received and that the sixmonth term deposits be rolled over for another six months at 2.6%. Carried Public Relations Report 1. Newsletter went out 2. Report sent to Scoop and Scuttlebutt. It will be included. Thanks for support. Councillor s Report 1. Cr Neil Beatty will be the new Mayor 2. Cr. Holt will continue on Rural Councils Victoria 3. Streetscape Project a. There has been action around the town b. 2 c. A large project for Wedderburn d. Council funding the extra monies 4. Harness Racing Club event 13 th December $20.00 per ticket May get another meeting in town in Kindergarten 27 children enrolled witch is very positive but numerous challenges a. If known to DHHS must be able to access kinder free (no evidence required) as does any with special needs. b. Whose responsibility is it Local Government or Education Department? c. Should ratepayers be responsible for health care? What should ratepayers dollars be used for? Health/Education? 6. Vic Premier and two Minister in town last week. Feedback that some people were upset as they were not invited. Not a Council function it was organised by the State Government 7. When upgrade done in Ride Street it will look very different. Discussion if we should put monies towards fencing etc. Cr. Holt recommended that we wait and see what happens when upgrade is completed. 8. The president thanked Cr. Holt for his efforts and contribution to Wedderburn, the Shire and the Wedderburn Development Association. Moved L. Randall seconded G. Maxwell, That the reports be received. Carried General Business: 1. P. Lee Rubbish in and around Jacka Park. Discussion as to the reduction in bins. Resolved to write to Council to examine bin structure and whether there are sufficient in the park. 2. P. Lee Limited amount of flat parking area. G. Deimos advises that Council advised that area won t be altered due to drainage matters. Hard Hill is not a caravan park, and won t be levelled as this would detract from the Caravan Psark. Hard Hill area maintained by Tourism Group. Government funds release re shades G. Deimos to follow up on quotes. 3. WDA Membership Invitation G. Deimos will write to organisations in and around Wedderburn to invite them to come to WDA (re drafter letter if no response from letter will personally ask). 4. Network meeting of Progress Associations as per draft letter to meet once or twice per year. Moved R. Vella seconded P. Lee, That these letters be sent to local organisations inviting them to the WDA and to Shire progress associations to form a network. Carried 5. Ambulance letter of support Moved P. Lee seconded A. Hargreaves, That a letter supporting an ambulance for Wedderburn be sent to the Minister for Health. Carried 6. Sun Shades Attempt to obtain suitable quotes seek advice from T. Jenkyn as to where to get quotes. Applications for grants need to be lodged by 7 th December 7. Wine Tasking Sub-committee to follow up and organise. Then bring back to COM Meeting 8. Grant Funding As per T. Jenkyn s report 9. Long Term Goals Members to consider long term Goals for the WDA 10. Purchase of urn for CWA Discussion re benefits or otherwise and alternative sources of funding. Estimated cost approximately $ Possible other grants available. If unable to obtain Grant J. Benaim to bring back to WDA. Loddon Shire has funding from a donations grant fund $20,000 available to assist community groups. 11. IDHS Service Plan Discussion to write to the Board to see a copy of their draft plan before adoption. 12. Aged Care Facility Discussion re same. J. Benaim to obtain copy of L. Matthew s letter. Previous letter sent to Lions Club supporting Aged Care Facility. All are on the same page and WDA is very supportive of an Aged Care Facility for Wedderburn. 13. Marketing Plan for Wedderburn a. How are we going to market the town? b. Micro businesses c. Great marketing Opportunities but need to come together as one d. Market Plan put together by WDA as lead and then facilitate it e. 3 g. Market to our strengths but difficult to change businesses i.e. some businesses closed for the Hamish and Andy event 14. Exercise Equipment a. Use Community Planning Funding to purchase equipment b. Talk to Alan Stoubus re-equipment, what; when, material would they prefer used as it would need to be included in the Council Maintenance budget as previous equipment fell into disrepair as no-one took responsibility for it c. Would be donated to Council who would be responsible for it d. Plans and specs to be sent to council e. What will the usage be? f. Look for other sources of funding e.g. i. IDHS ii. Council iii. Other grants 15. Website a. Needs to be upgraded Is not what we originally planned b. Two quotes on upgrading website including design/maintaining back up programs c. Annual hosting cost d. $ including design and hosting first year - Bushsong e. $ as previous quote f. Cost basis for anything that needs doing $60.00 per hour g. G. Deimos and F. Peiffer recommend that the Bush Song quote be accepted. h. Discussion as to combining with Tourism s website Have own website as totally different and larger Moved R. Vella seconded P. Lee, That we employ Bush Song to develop our website etc. at a quoted price of $ Carried. 16. Friends of Skinner s Flat Slashing needed. G.
