1 Summary I am a passionate executive with decades of experience operating, programming for and fundraising for non-profits that serve vulnerable populations, particularly people living in poverty. I ve become something of a specialist in the areas of cross-discipline collaboration and non-profit turn-around, especially with organizations or systems struggling with change and transitions. Work Experience CEO Community Action Partnership of Lancaster County 7/15 to Present Responsible for all aspects of running a 501(c)(3) organization focused on building selfsufficiency and eliminating poverty in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Manages a $45 millionplus budget that includes diverse programs such as WIC, Head Start, Domestic Violence Services, Child Care Information Services, Senior Services, Family Center and Pathways Out of Poverty. Directly supervises four executive officers and a two-member development team within a staff of roughly 300 employees. Vice President for Community Impact Community Foundation of Tampa Bay - 10/14 to 5/15 Responsible for the grant making process and collaborations with a multitude of non-profit organizations throughout a four-county service area. Oversight to ensure that the Foundation s investment in the community yields significant impact. Accomplishments to date: Proposed a revamp of the Foundation s entire grant making system Secured a nationally competitive Lumina Education Foundation grant for $120,000 1 of 5
2 Executive Director & CEO University Area Community Development Corporation 1/12 to 10/14 Responsible for all aspects of running a 501(c)(3) organization focused on community and economic development in the severely impoverished community to the West of the University of South Florida as well as positive youth development programs in seven counties. Managed a $6 million-plus budget. Directly supervised three executive officers and a four-member development team within a 48 employee staff. Accomplishments: Increased grant and private funding by 1,116% in two years ($2.1 million) Secured a $1 million Neighborhood Stabilization Renovation Project Secured $650,000 in CDBG grants for community improvements Created a Community Transformation Plan based on Public Health and Epidemiology strategies and best practices Created and maintained a 60-plus member Partners Coalition to execute the shared Community Transformation Plan Won a national JP Morgan Chase competition that will result in a smart service record for those receiving health and human services within our coalition (and beyond) Won a highly competitive United Way grant to launch STEPS for Success, a highly personalized anti-poverty program using Circles of Support as a framework Began a cooperative community garden that reduced crime on its block by 42% in one year Launched Paint the Town, a community beautification program that engaged over 1,000 volunteers per year to paint over graffiti, repair homes, remove litter and make Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) improvements. Director of Development/Chief Operating Officer SouthEast Lancaster Health Services 11/07 to 12/11 Member of the Senior Leadership team. Oversaw daily operations at SELHS, a Federally Qualified Health Center with an $8 million operating budget. This included supervision of Practice Managers and facilities maintenance at three sites. Supervised the Development Office and was the lead on all fundraising and development activities including grant writing, special 2 of 5
3 events, donor relations and the annual appeal. Created marketing strategies and was active in community outreach, graphic design, media relations, government relations and web design. Developed and critiqued policies and procedures to prevent fraud and abuse throughout the organization as Corporate Compliance Officer. My tenure at SELHS included the following highlights: Raised $6.9 million on a $6.75 million capital campaign between 8/09 and 8/11 to create a new, 24 exam room site and to double our dental capacity at an existing site Consistently raised between $400,000 and $500,000 per year for operations and programs every year Wrote one of 85 successful ARRA/FIP stimulus grants nationwide for $3.25 million (scored a 99 out of 100 possible points) Wrote a successful national Kresge Challenge Grant Revamped the organization s meeting structure and evaluation procedures to create more staff buy-in Planned and facilitated SELHS first all-staff retreat for over 150 employees Created a system to identify and develop staff with the potential for future leadership and promotion Created a collaborative grant writing office made up of recent college graduates to serve multiple non-profit partners Education Bachelor s Degree Rowan University Glassboro, NJ English Literature Major - Concentration in American Literature and Minor in Creative Writing Graduated Magna Cum Laude.
