4 To the current and prospective partners of the CSA, I am thrilled to assume the role of the Honourary President of the Commerce Students Association for the academic year. As a University of Manitoba Commerce graduate of 1984 and active supporter of the faculty, I have seen for myself how the support, services and events offered by the CSA can significantly enrich the student experience and develop future leaders in our community and around the world. For over 75 years, the faculty has provided a world-class education to thousands of business students, all of whom have left a unique mark on their respective communities across the world. Today, the I.H Asper School of Business continues to produce top quality leaders with the skills and talents required to grow and innovate our organizations. It is with your generous support as corporate partners of the CSA, that enables them to offer such a diverse set of events and services. Your support provides professional development opportunities for students in our community and creates meaningful access and connections which extend well beyond their university years. On behalf of all current students, the CSA, and the I.H. Asper School of Business, please accept my sincere thanks for your support of the CSA. There is no better investment than that made in education and the development of young people. Paul Soubry President and Chief Executive Officer, New Flyer Industries 4 CORPORATE PARTNERS PROGRAM

6 What is the Corporate Partners Program? The purpose of this program is to provide a link between your organization and the students of the Asper School of Business. This program provides details of the many great events that are run by the Commerce Students Association (CSA), and the specialized student groups within it. These are value-added events that allow your organization to interact in many different ways with ambitious business students from various backgrounds. The CSA is proud to have such a strong relationship with the Winnipeg Business community, and appreciates the continued support from its partners. The strong ties to the Manitoba business community are due largely to the strength of the CSA s relationships with its Corporate Partners. The CSA The Commerce Students Association consists of the over 1600 students enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) program. When a student is accepted into the Asper School of Business they automatically become a member of the Commerce Students Association and a user of the student services and events hosted by the Commerce Students Association Council. CSA Council The CSA Council is a well-established organization of nearly fifty student volunteers including seven executive members who provide services to the students at the Asper School, as well as organize and facilitate valueadded events for the Asper School s students. Corporate Partners Program (CPP) The CPP is designed to enhance the relationship of the CSA and Student Groups with corporate sponsors, known as our Corporate Partners. This is achieved through minimizing the number of students who solicit sponsorship and by consolidating all CSA sponsorship opportunities into one package. The goal of the CPP is to clearly display the opportunities offered by the CSA to promote value-added, mutually beneficial relationships between the CSA and its Corporate Sponsors. Student Action Groups (STAGS) In addition to the CSA, there are a number of student groups dedicated to the enhancement of specific areas of study. These student groups organize events relating to those areas of study so that students can learn more than just what is taught in the classroom. This also helps to form a common bond between students of specific majors. Student Action Groups Included in this Guide ASBAA - Asper School of Business Accounting Association MISA - Management Information Systems Association UMHRA - University of Manitoba Human Resource Association UMFO - University of Manitoba Finance Organization UMIG - University of Manitoba Investment Group UMICS - University of Manitoba Indigenous Commerce Students UMMA - University of Manitoba Marketing Association JDC West - Jeux du Commerce West 6 CORPORATE PARTNERS PROGRAM

38 10TH ANNUAL 5 DAYS FOR THE HOMELESS CHARITY CAMPAIGN Date: March 2018 Location: University of Manitoba Fort Gary Campus Attendance: 5-6 Participants, Student Volunteers Five Days for the Homeless is a national charity campaign founded by students in which a small group of commerce students from each school live & sleep outside to raise money and awareness for a local charity. In Winnipeg the charity is RaY (Resource Assistance for Youth), which supports homeless youth. Participants cannot shower during this time, nor do they have access to any of the usual comforts of home, and are only able to eat what is donated to them by other students. Secondary events including barbeques, bake sales, speakers series, benefit concerts, and silent auctions also take place during the week to help raise funds, as well as a general understanding of the campaign. Corporate sponsorship would assist in funding the costs of the campaign, as well as go directly to RaY. In each of the first six years of the University of Manitoba campaign, fundraising goals were shattered, and the issue of homelessness was brought to the forefront of peoples minds thanks to efforts on-campus, and through media exposure. As one of the most visible campaigns on campus, 5 Days for the Homeless has the power to connect communities and better lives. 38 CORPORATE PARTNERS PROGRAM
