1 NATO SfP project workshop Characterisation of hazardous chemical contamination from environmental chemistry and toxicology to risk assessment Workshop objectives PRELIMINARY PROGRAMME To present, discuss and critically evaluate state-of-the-art environmental research tools and approaches available or being developed for identification and prioritization of environmental contaminants; Implementation of the European environmental policy in the region the interaction among scientists and regional authorities as a critical prerequisite towards a comprehensive environmental risk assessment, scientifically-based and cost-effective management of water resources; To facilitate the dissemination of the results and outcomes of the NATO SfP Project and related national and EU projects. Specific topics Risk assessment of emerging chemical contaminants; Analysis of contaminants in complex environmental samples - development, validation and application of advanced analytical protocols; Assessing ecotoxicological hazard by a combination of biotests based on different modes of action; Final Announcement and Call for Papers Organized by: NATO Science for Piece and Security Project Assessment of hazardous chemical contamination in the Sava River basin Effects-Directed Analysis (EDA) approach for identification and prioritization of hazardous contaminants. About Dubrovnik Workshop location DUBROVNIK GENERAL INFORMATION The Workshop will take place at the: Inter-University Centre Dubrovnik IUC Web: Don Frana Bulića 4, HR Dubrovnik, Croatia Dubrovnik is situated on the Adriatic coast in the southern part of Croatia. It has preserved the beauty of a medieval town and its outstanding cultural and historical monuments have earned a place on UNESCO's World Heritage List. For more information: ndex.php IUC is a part of the University of Zagreb and has a long tradition in hosting scientific events. It is situated in the vicinity of Pile, the western entrance to the old city of Dubrovnik and is at walking distance to a number of hotels. Registration fee Authors/Participants 150 EUR Ph.D. students (a letter from the supervisor is required) 50 EUR Fee will cover attendance to the Workshop, the abstract book, welcome reception, 3 coffee breaks, two lunches and the Workshop dinner.
