Hearing of Guests and Special Reports: 1. Bruce Clemetson - V.P. of Student Affairs a. Just wanted to cover a couple quick things, I want to thank Kaela for pushing the Budget forums. b. Jess Jacobs will be pushing more Student forums, please push more students towards those as well enter Maricela -- a. Looking at proposing a 5% tuition increase for next year, with your help and OCCA s help, our flat request was $635 million. b. We are thankfully not looking at any direct cuts. c. Performance packages are permanent additions to our budget, the largest item next year is full support of OERs, right now we have strategic funds. i. This funding will cover updates and continual research cycles. ii. We also need to hire a position to coordinate the systems for OERs as well Enter Alisia-- a. Plan is to add 3 full-time faculty positions. i. We have to hire contract faculty to cover those positions. ii. Communications, Biology, and writing are currently bottlenecked. b. This is what s being proposed. c. OERs are about half of the overall spending next year. d. New Scholarship system updates, and someone to manage them, to streamline it and make it efficient for students and faculty. i. This will move a part-time position to full-time. e. Looking to purchase a new Financial aid verification process, it s awful, confusing, etc f. We want to purchase a product that will help with checking satisfaction for Financial aid information. i. This will be a fact/check system for students applying for fin. Aid. 4. Lina: Will that in anyway affect work-study students? 5. Bruce: there will be other jobs allocated, or the money will fund other jobs on campus. 6. Bruce: There will be some sq. ft. increases with new a building on Benton Center s campus. a. Glad to see your election stuff come out, maybe some of you who stick around for next year. b. There is a document with our Lobbying information, processes, and positions, contact me if you d like to see it. c. Friday Night 5-7 Ways and Means committee, seating room F, State Capitol. i. Be there early, and be ready to move. 7. Barb: I have 3 people currently interested in applying for the President position. 8. Lina: I ll put a plug in for olis.gov, you can follow information on bills with easy search stuff. Action Items:
1. Workshop Budget a. Lina: Heather and I were here last week, with a couple budgets for y all, this is specifically for the Community service event the 24th, and 25th of the month, the food pantry, and hygiene kits. i. There is an optional cost option. ii. The Hygiene kits are possibly being rushed, as we re going through Walmart, the ask for the donations right now is. iii. The metal shelves are for food pantry donations for the canned food donations. iv. We really need the $663.24, full $1, v. It s currently most efficient to get the money through y all. b. Alisia: I met with the B&GC center planner, about dental care supplies, they wouldn t need all the same hygiene stuff, but could partner with the Vet s club for donations as well. c. Lina; I like that, and I ll bring it back to the club. d. Gini: You should look into the Dollar Tree for a lead as well, maybe not now, but a little later for future events. e. Eric: Can you plug that this money came from students for the event? f. Lina: from LBCC students, yes. g. Lina: next we have the Assertive training budget, which is a resume builder, and can also work as a donation feed for the community, however no pay is required. i. This individual is losing out on about $900 dollars for the event. ii. We re securing them a hotel, and managing to get $150 to them. iii. The total for that budget is $425 for the round trip. iv. Dates are April 12th, and 13th, a Tuesday and Wednesday, with basics the first day and practical application the next. h. Gini: motion to approve both of entire budgets of $1, i. Kylie: Second 1. Passes Discussion Items: 1. Hot Shot training a. Eric: The HotShot is suffering a bit right now, you can work there, and cover your office hours, training is easy and practical. b. Patrick: I can help a bit with some days. c. Eric: Talent grants are also still an option for the HotShot. i. We just stopped talking about it. d. Barb: we do have a student interested in applying for a barista position. e. Karmann: The Judiciary board is also talking about application of talent grants. f. Eric: I d just like to see them be more accessible to all students with that. 2. OCCSA update a. Eric: I know OCCSA is coming here in the next coming weeks, and I d like to get some connections with them done through that. b. Alisia: they ll be here the 18th and 19th of this month.
i. I have connected with the head chair of OCCSA, and we re getting things worked out for this meeting. ii. There will be a lobby training there as well. iii. I encourage everyone to make it since it s here Enter Adam -- i. I will send out all the info to everyone interested, the more people we have, the harder it is to get things in place and passed. b. Eric: I think we ll be an integral part as we re also a part of OSA. c. Alisia: they want to merge, but they re also a bit worried about the bad blood between them. i. We will be entombing the bylaws on Saturday, and everything will be voted in on Sunday. 4. OSA update a. Rachel: The Lobby day is coming up on the 14th, it would be good to get there around 7:30 a.m. as things will be starting around 8. i. Lamar will help you figure out where you ll be going and who you ll be meeting with. ii. There will be time to figure things out, meetings will start at 9 a.m. iii. Lobby meetings will be going throughout the day, and some events spliced in-between with panels at 11, 11:30 and one at 1: There will be politicians we can t normally meet with at this time talking to us. iv. There will also be a rally at 12, and lunch will be at 1, at around 2 the education and housing committees will be meeting, it s a good opportunity to see what goes on. v. Things should be done around 4, if your delegation is done beforehand however, feel free to leave. vi. We may also be setting up some separate fun things. b. Alisia: Do you have an idea for when any other lobby days will happen? c. Rachel: Not currently, except for some specific bills, but stuff happens last minute a lot of the times and can make organizing difficult. i. The Ways and Means roadshow is also coming up quite quickly and bodies are needed there, and there is support from other campuses as well. 5. Student Survey a. Eric: we have the opportunity to have students vote on whatever we re changing on our bylaws with a survey. i. The big question is about transportation. ii. How the money would be moved, maybe a student fees change to help get the busses running longer. b. Scott: there are a couple issues with the bus schedule right now, the 4:15 to 5:50 split, or getting out of class after the last bus runs. i. So the ask could be for students to get an increase in fees to help with transportation. c. Gini: would that affect all of the busses for our campuses? d. Eric: The issues spans between 4 companies and 2 counties which is the issue right now, it s complicated, but this is a good toe-dipping first step. e. Scott: the issues are getting a new bus, and making a new route, both which need the help.
f. Dreagn: The issue would be with going overtime with both bus and driver, as they re currently running at full capacity. i. There needs to be a new route and new drivers. g. Scott: I thought it functioned more with just a new driver, but we do need a new bus too. h. Ceph: For the sake of the survey, this should be a toe-dipping question and seeing how much the students are willing to pay per credit as well. i. Eric: The survey s historically have been a bit biased and then rushed when presenting. i. We do have resources on campus to reach out to as well. j. Alisia: the bus things sounds like a very long, costly project, I m not saying we need immediate turn-out. i. Is there something maybe we could do with a taxi system in town that d be willing to help if we can give them a monthly stipend. k. Scott: We looked into that with Bruce, but there s a lot of cost issues, and the school taking responsibilities that they can t, as it would involve endorsing. l. Adam: I don t think you should be shy about just increasing transport between OSU and LBCC. m. Scott: OSU is not willing to help us actually, the cities involved on the routes should be taking more of the routes as outside citizens use it as well. n. Eric: So are we looking to doing a quick survey, or a long about 20 minute rap for classes. i. We do still have people interested in helping us, Scott Macleare. ii. The survey doesn t have to be at the same time, but we could do it separately, just easier to put it together. o. Kaela: Could we do incentivising with big prizes, and chances to win, with smaller prizes as well. 6. Office Security a. Scott: I have not had anything taken from me, but I have heard four things have been taken, three in the past two days. b. Barb: Mextli s things were taken later. c. Gini: any camera s we want have to tie in to our direct systems on campus already. i. Price and installation would be around $1500 ii. Due to AR s security interface, we have to have everything go through our public safety system. d. Barb: Our security council does need to go through everything. e. Heather: it did not take that long to install it at the greenhouse when issues popped up there, I do know it cost around $1500. f. Alisia: This is an issue that pops up where I work as well. g. Barb: Heather and I will handle it, nothing much more to do. h. Dreagn: I think us being watched by public safety isn t important, and $1500 isn t important for overall solace. i. Adam: I think a security camera would be a good idea, and we ve just had a lot of foot traffic recently with some people that may be dangerous in the office right now. j. Eric: let s just get marcene to come in and see how much it ll cost, let s get the ball rolling. k. Kaela: this is unfortunate, as the timeline is very short, this is very concerning, the money towards a camera could be just flatly fruitful. l. Scott: can we get an assessment for both the office and the HotShot? m. Eric: Yes, that s an option for sure.
7. Recognition a. Heather: the three-way split for the water bottle filter on campus, and would be split between the DAC, SLC, and Coc, with a match from facilities with the other one going to the BC. i. CoC kinda decided on an outdoor barbecue with games and such. 1. Rather than the putt-putt and bowling. ii. This will be in place of the more formal thing y all have had the past couple of years, that s being moved to a BOE meeting. b. Eric: is it possible for us to have Lakeshore lanes as a backup? c. Heather: Not with the planning issues that will take place.
