1 Hi Class of 2021! SCHULICH DENTISTRY ORIENTATION WEEK SCHEDULE 2017 Welcome to Schulich Dentistry! Below you will find the Orientation Week schedule. While most Orientation Week events are not mandatory*, we highly encourage you to attend as many events as you can as it is a fun way to get to know your peers before you begin classes! This isn't your regular cringe-inducing undergrad O-Week, we actually want to have fun. *Please note some of the indicated sessions occurring on August 29 th, 30 th and 31 st are MANDATORY! (please look out for the event coloured in red) The week is partly sponsored by UWODSS (University of Western Ontario Dental Student Society) and organized by the class of The membership cost for UWODSS is $200, which covers all social events for your next 4 years at the school. In addition, the fees for participating in Orientation week is $200. The combined $400 should be e-transferred to our VP Finance, Pari Dabas ( pdabas@uwo.ca ) by August 15 th. Please make the security question What do we like most? and the answer teeth, and include your full name in the comments section in the e-transfer. Visit the registration table to sign in and receive your student card/bus pass. 9:00 am 11:00 am MANDATORY! Dental Sciences A tour of the dental facilities will begin outside the Physics and Astronomy (North Entrance). All parents welcome! Dr. LouAnn Visconti (President of the Ontario Dental Association) and representatives from the Canadian Dental Services Plans Inc. (CDSPI) will welcome you to the profession. Lunch is provided. A perfect opportunity for you to vent out any built up stress ;) Are details necessary? It s a chicken wing dinner and laid back vibes after a long day of talks. (However, since the ODA luncheon is right after, you might want to consider coming dressed for the occasion) Business Athletic (consider a change of clothes for the following event) 9:00 12:00 MANDATORY! Continuing Dental Education - Bank and Insurance Financial Forum 1:30 4:30 pm MANDATORY! Kit Orientation Thursday August 31 st Medical Sciences Room: 148 Dental Sciences Room: Continental breakfast will be served. Get to know the financial aspect of dentistry, and start exploring insurance options. Room 00020, is found on the Lower Lower Ground (LLG) floor of the building. (Don t feel the need to be over-dressed because you are going to be leaving for Grand Bend by 5:00)

5 5:00 pm Leave for Grand Bend Dental Circle (Can be accessed from the Lower Ground Floor of DSB) Please arrive minutes early so that the bus can be loaded up. We will be spending the night at a cottage in Grand Bend so please pack accordingly. Bring a pillow and a sleeping bag. Don t forget your bathing suit, towel, hat, sun screen, bug spray, toiletries etc. Dinner will be served upon arrival, but please bring your own refreshments (no glass). Friday September 1 st 4:00 pm Return from Grand Bend Dental Circle Check out time is at 11:00 am but the bus isn t leaving until 1:00 pm so that you can have the afternoon to enjoy the beach. Please bring money as lunch will not be provided. 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm Late Night Laser Tag Palasad South 141 Pine Valley Blvd, London, ON N6K 3X3 After you have rested, enjoy some competitive fun with your classmates as we have booked the entire arena! (or Athletic) 11:00 am 4:30 pm Team Ropes Course 9:00 pm - 12:00 am Walking Tour of Downtown London Saturday September 2 rd Ivey Spencer Leadership Center 551 Windermere Rd, London, ON N5X 2T1 Walking Tour: Richmond Row. Exact location to meet TBD An outdoor, team building activity containing both high and low elements. Please be sure to bring sun protection and refillable water bottles. Pizza lunch will be provided. Get to know the nightlife in downtown London. Athletic Alternative Event: Movie Night Movie night: Western Film, Room 340, University Community Centre Come out for a relaxed night to watch a movie.
