3 Grant Activity - Equipment / Supplies Equipment / Supplies SUPPLIES/EQUIPMENT Start Date 1-Jan-16 End Date 31-Dec-16 No The Red Lake County SWCD purchased a Polaris Ranger to assist with field work for the Buffer Law Program in Red Lake County. The Polaris Ranger will help the District be more effective with time management. It takes less time to complete field work with the Ranger. 4 Grant Activity - Information / Education Information / Education includes: Public Education through newspaper articles, district website, direct mailings, landowner contacts, etc. Information / Education also includes: staff training on the Buffer Law. ADMINISTRATION/COORDINATION Start Date 10-Nov-15 End Date 31-Dec-16 Yes District staff have been educating themselves on the Buffer Law by attending various Buffer Law workshops and meetings throughout the year. District staff have met several times with the County Ditch Authority and the Red Lake Watershed District Administrator to discuss and coordinate implementation roles and responsibilities. District staff held a landowner meeting on December 13th in Red Lake Falls to educate the landowners on the Buffer Law. Newspaper articles were printed in the local newspapers for 4 weeks and a direct mailing was sent to all effected landowners in Red Lake County (about letters). A display board was purchased to promote the Buffer Law Program. The display board contains nine factsheets, from the BWSR website, that provide education and guidance to landowners on the Buffer Law. Report created on:2/22/17 Page 4 of 6
5 Grant Activity - Technical Assistance Technical Assistance TECHNICAL/ENGINEERING ASSISTANCE Start Date 1-Jan-16 End Date 31-Dec-16 Yes Staff worked with the DNR, Red Lake Watershed District, and the Red Lake County Ditch Authority on the Buffer maps. The District Technician created a new Drainage Ditch Systems Arc GIS map for Red Lake County. This map was provided to the DNR for the Buffer Law Program. The District Technician worked with DNR to develop an updated Protected Waters Map for Red Lake County. The District Technician has been inputting information into the BuffCAT Tool. The District Manager and the District Technician have provided technical, planning and implementation assistance to landowners throughout the year. District staff have spent time with landowners reviewing there property and providing options to the landowners so they will be in compliance with the Buffer Law.
