2 Visitor Management System: What is it? Web- based application Accessed by staff at the school security desk Allows for instant screening of all visitors against a national sex offender registry Currently used 14,000 K- 12 schools across the country; approximately 500 in Virginia

VBCPS piloted Raptor at three schools in 2011 Birdneck Elementary Larkspur Middle Princess Anne High Community feedback was mixed Society has changed considerably since initial pilot Raptor or similar system now in use at several local school divisions including Chesapeake.

An added layer of security More accurate record of who is visiting our buildings and their destination More efficient than previous procedures No screening for visitors Volunteers asked to self- certify that they were not registered sex offenders Volunteer coordinator manually checked Virginia State Police website Partners in Education signed an agreement which included certification that representatives were not registered offenders

7 Visitor Management: How does it work? Guests present a valid license or military ID at the school security desk ID is scanned and name/photo are instantly screened against a national offender registry Detailed visitor badge is printed Name Photo Arrival time Destination Visitor returns badge at conclusion of the visit and is marked out of the building with two mouse clicks

8 What if there is a problem? Guest may not have an identification with them at time of visit With approval of administrator a guest can be manually entered into the system and a badge printed Guest will be escorted to destination An alert appears at the time an ID is scanned The screen will display the photo associated with the registered offender for visual confirmation An will be automatically sent to identified administrator at the school and Office of Safety and Loss Control Guest may conduct business in the school office or upon approval of administrator, be accompanied by staff member for duration of the visit

9 Offender Alert Monitoring Raptor is actively monitors all potential sex offender matches. Raptor staff provides feedback to front desk and security personnel on errors in matches.

10 Integrated Volunteer Management Allows schools and volunteer coordinators to easily post volunteer opportunities, manage signups and communicate with and track all of their volunteers Every volunteer receives an instant sex offender background check each time they visit the school Volunteers can be identified during check in at the security desk and hours are automatically logged upon check out Volunteers can report their own hours using an online portal accessed on school website School and Division Reporting includes: Volunteer hours Volunteer event summaries Volunteer custom fields and custom histories And much more
