1 Police Training and Equipment Grants Fiscal Year 2015/16 Fiscal Year Stream Applicant Community Project Description Grant Amount Approved Abbotsford Police Abbotsford Funding for procurement of a Pole Mount Surveillance System $9, Alexis Creek RCMP Alexis Creek Funds to cover the underfunded grant from fiscal 14/15 (due to fluctuating exchange rate) $ Atlin RCMP Atlin Funds to support commencement of an archery training program for at-risk high school youth Atlin RCMP Atlin The goal of the project is to provide a safer place for Atlin's youth and the broader Community to learn to skate, play hockey, and spend their free time participating in a structured recreational activity. The skating rink goes a long way to filling a gap in this community. That gap is the lack of facilities for the youth to participate in recreational activities. There is little for the youth of Atlin to do after school and on weekends. $20, BC Municipal Undercover Vancouver Funding for an assortment of equipment to be used in UC scenarios $14, Campbell River RCMP Campbell River Canada Border Services Agency Central Interior Traffic Services Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers Society Funding to support hosting of a three day "Peacemaking Circle Training'' session for those who work directly with victims and offenders of complex crime. Volunteers, representatives of all three local First Nation Bands, Women's Center Staff, School District Representatives, Police Officer's, and various community partners will be invited to attend the three day training. All the travel costs, instructor lodging, instructor fee, facility fees, lunch & snacks for attendees for three days, and course supplies would be financed upon approval of the grant money. Vancouver Funds for purchasing a vehicle with an after-market compartment to be used for training purposes $2, Kamloops Funding for buying a Fiberscope for the detachment $6, Kelowna Monetary assistance for website upgrade; printing materials and pamphlets and media advertising $3, Central Saanich Police Service Saanichton Funding to support CSCP and the WSANEC First Nations to hold a full day cultural training $3, Central Saanich Police Service Victoria Funding for Forward looking infrared cameras $8, CFSEU Surrey Funds for purchasing a multi-purpose field kit for recovery of surveillance data from multiple systems $6, CFSEU Surrey A grant to support the incidental expenses and speaking fee of a former gang member who presents with a RCMP officer at schools around the Province. The Grant will be managed by ACS CFSEU Surrey Funding for AV production focussing on End Gang Life messaging $20, Valley RCMP Invermere Funds for procuring two satellite phones and service plans for the detachment $3,244.50

The TFN operates its own work experience program that provides training and educational opportunities for youth over the summer months. The current program focusses primarily on proving work opportunities for the youth. The intent is to increase the programming opportunities to include education, diversion, and cultural programming and to increase the work opportunities. $9, E-Division Surrey Funding for covert equipment $9, E-Division Surrey General request for updates to a number of equipment items $2, E-Division Surrey Grant for procuring coordination and safety equipment $5, E-Division Province-Wide Funding for ongoing pipeline training for police officers $8, E-Division Prince George Funds for purchasing winter surveillance equipment for detachment officers $8, E-Division Nanaimo Funding to assist with development of youth outreach training, and present to all school districts in the area. Focus will be on drug awareness, gangs, bullying, etc $9, E-Division Osoyoos Funds for purchasing specialized training equipment $9, E-Division Chilliwack Fraser Valley Traffic Service RCMP Grant to assist in the fabrication of a tactile aid for the purpose of training apprentices in the use of fingerprint identification $20, Chilliwack Funds for purchasing six vehicle search kits $11, Fugitive Return Program (FRP) Province-Wide Additional funding for the fugitive return program $40, Golden/Field RCMP Golden Funds for purchasing three radar units for traffic enforcement $9, Grand Forks RCMP Grand Forks Funds for purchasing radar and laser detectors to equip all vehicles and two ASDs to aid officers in conducting investigations $11, Greater Vancouver IRSU Langley Funding to support officers to attend specialized advanced criminal interdiction training in the U.S. $3,774.25

The grant will be used to cover training costs of 4 dogs. The infrastructure costs will be absorbed by PADS $60, Surrey Funds for supporting the Police Dog Services Imprinting program which trains new k-9s Vancouver Mission RCMP Mission Nanaimo RCMP Nanaimo Nanaimo RCMP Nanaimo 2015/16 Vehicle Loan Police Police Funding for See Something, Say Something training in schools to be presented across the Lower Mainland and not just Vancouver. It will cover the deficit in the projected budget which could not be raised from other sources. Funds to assist with procurement of a satellite phone and case, FLIR, UTV operator training course and UTV rentals to assist in focused patrols in rural areas Funds for providing tablets to school liaisons to make them more adept at responding to social media developments Funds for development of the "YEP I" after school program in School District 68. The program is designed for children in grades 3 to 5 who are struggling with peer to peer conflict, are the survivors of early childhood trauma and are living in poverty. Identifying past traumas, working through the trauma and moving toward healing, the aim would be to create a learning opportunity and celebration that focusses on collaboration resulting in a cohesive healing plan and working structure that breaks down barriers to communication across various applicable sectors. The training session will focus on discussions around current trends in operational gang policing and reviewing major case files that will assist in future investigations.
