6 B3G-SA Cluster Charter B3G system definition A system that supports seamless IP-based mobile multiparty multimedia services over heterogeneous wired and wireless networks Technological scope B3G system scenarios, architectures, roadmaps, and social-economics IP support in networks such as cellular, broadcast, WLAN and satellite networks IP-based convergence and integration of wired and wireless, fixed and mobile networks Performance, functional, inter-layer interaction, security and management enhancement of IP networking technologies to enable seamless mobile networking over existing and emerging, wired and wireless networks Objectives Provide a forum to facilitate knowledge sharing and leverage of B3G networking technologies to enable B3G systems Deliverables Produce B3G-SA Cluster Report releases to consolidate results of IST B3G networking research activities Recommendations to EU programs on B3G systems page 6

8 B3G Report Objectives of the B3G-SA Cluster Report Effective sharing of significant technical results within the scope of the B3G-SA Cluster. Well-developed and well-written technical contents representative of IST project outcomes within the scope of the B3G-SA Cluster. Contents of contribution to B3G-SA Cluster Report Subject must be within the scope of the B3G-SA Cluster. Well researched and developed technical solution from a particular B3G-SA Cluster project, or comparative/joint studies of technical solutions from several B3G-SA Cluster projects. Must contain problem description, elaborated solution with significant substance, and conclusion with analysis/evaluation. Desirably contain a section on Impacts to other projects to provide recommendations on how to leverage from the elaborated solution in other projects. Must be written in a project-independent manner to benefit wider audience. (Unnecessary mentioning of project does not help readability and generalisation of the subject matter. Contributing projects can be acknowledged in the introduction or conclusion of the contribution.) page 8
