Camp has been performing stand-up for more than five years and has opened for multiple stars from Night Live. He has also been a weekly humor columnist for four years and has authored his own book. Lee is not your average comdian. His hip, hilarious humor will keep both young and old laughing hysterically. It s his material, work ethic and extreme onstage likeablity that made Darrell Hammond ask Camp to open for him and earn rave reviews from Jimmy Fallon. 2 Guitarist to offer 500 years of Spanish music Andres Segovia said that guitarist David Burgess was an artist of music with a magnificent technique. Experience this for yourself as Burgess performs 500 Years of Spanish Music In The Americas at 8 p.m. Friday at The Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. Praised by musicians and critics worldwide, Burgess is recognized as one of today s outstanding guitarists. His international appearances as soloist and chamber musician have taken him to concert halls throughout North and South America, Europe and the Far East. This program traces the history of Spanish music throughout 500 years and shows how Spanish music blended with Indian melodies and the rhythms of African slaves to create a variety of Latin American styles, including the Inca melodies of Peru and Bolivia, Argentine tangos, Caribbean merengues and Brazilian sambas. To adequately describe it, one requires such terms as lush, evocative and brimming with emotion his ability to attain the first rank of guitarists cannot be doubted, wrote Seattle Classical Guitar Society. Burgess began studying guitar at the Estudio de Arte Guitarristico in Mexico City with the renowned Argentine guitarist Manuel Lopez Ramos. He received a bachelor s degree in music at the University of Washington, and later earned a Diploma di Merito at the Accademia Musicale Chigian in Siena, Italy, where he studied with Oscar Ghiglia. From , he received classes from the great Spanish maestro Andres Segovia. Performance prices are $18 for the general public, $15 for SBU employees and subscribers and $8 for SBU and JCC students with valid ID. The cost is $60 one way and $75 round trip. Departure times will be 11 p.m. from Hickey Circle, 11:15 p.m. from the Rob/Fal Circle and 11:30 from Francis/Townhouses. The bus will arrive in Paramus, N.J., at the Paramus Park Mall at 6 a.m. and at NYC Penn Station, near Madison Square Garden, at 6:30 a.m. The bus will return to SBU on Sunday, Nov. 28. Departure from NYC Penn Station will be at 9 a.m. and from Paramus, N.J., at 9:30 a.m. Students are asked to be ready for pickup 15 minutes before departure. Bus signups are in Student Activities, Room 208 in the Reilly Center.
