1 Illinois Valley Yacht & Canoe Club IVY LEAF Mother s Day Brunch - Sunday, May 13 There will be two seatings available 10:30 am and 1 pm Give Mom the day off. Bring the entire family to the IVY Club to enjoy a waffle bar with assorted toppings, a made to order omelet station, yogurt bar, roast beef carving station, assorted salads, including sliced fruit platter, pastries and muffins. Every mother will be treated to a glass of Champagne or a Mimosa which will be served at your table by an IVY Club staff member. $22 for adults $9 for children 3-12 age 2 and under are free Reservations are required. This is a lovely way to show your mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and your wife how much you appreciate them. Reservations Required Mode of Attire - whatever mom wants! Please Note: the club and the bar will close promptly at 4 pm. Italian Night May 26 Cocktails at 6 pm, Dinner at 7 pm One of the best theme nights at IVY! Start your dining experience with Antipasto, marinated balsamic veggie platter, Caprese and marinated olive skewers. Then feast on green salad - with dressing choices (ranch, French, Italian), veggie and meat lasagna, Italian sausages, meatballs, pasta with choices of marinara or alfredo, chicken parmesan and garlic bread. A delectable dessert table of chocolate dipped biscotti, Panna Cotta shooters with raspberries and Tiramisu Bistro cake. The live band Cousin Eddie will be at the Club. $24 per person. Attire is bello (nice in Italian) Reservations and/or cancellations must be made by Wednesday, May 23rd- call Babysitting will be available for ages 3yrs old and above. Cost per child $12 includes meal. Reservations for the babysitter must be made by Wednesday, May 23rd. If there are no reservations by this date, we will not have a sitter available. 3 Pink Bus Friday, May 18th It's time to treat our little girls (3+) to a fun night of pampering and all things girlie on May 18 at 6:00 p.m. They will enjoy wearing pink robes and slippers while getting a spa pedicure and their nails painted, making lip gloss, music, glitter tattoos, a photo booth and more hosted by Wink on Wheels. The cost is $25 per girl and is limited to 10. Please bring cash or a check payable to Lindsey Murphy. We invite families to stay for dinner at the club. Corner The 2018 season is just around the corner. The first will be on Sunday, May 27th. If you or your group is interested in hosting the first event of the year, let Judy or myself know so we can get you on the board. Here are the other dates: June 3rd, 10th, 17th & 24th, July 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd & 29th, August 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th, and September 2nd. All the dates are still available, but they will go quickly. Get with you friends and pick a day (or days if you would like) that will work for your group to be the hosts /hostesses. If you would just like to help with someone else that s great too. 4 Easter Egg Hunt Even though the weather didn t co-operate outside, there was a great turnout for the Easter Egg Hunt that was held on Saturday, March 30th. The kids had a blast finding eggs among balloons in the Commodores Room. The special gold egg was found by Tim & Sue Ward s grandson and Joe and Morgan Grigsby s daughter, Maggie found the silver egg. Steak Fry - Saturday, July 7 This is always a great night to be down at the IVY Club with your friends. The Steak Fry will be held this year on Saturday, July 7th. So mark your calendar today, so you don t miss this fun evening. More information will be posted in the June IVY Leaf. Just a reminder: Dress is casual at the club, but we do not allow cutoffs, swim suits without appropriate cover up, and men s sleeveless t-shirts to be worn in the dining room. The wearing of hats by men is not permitted in the dining room at any time. Shirt and Shoes are required at all times. Thank you for adhering to the club s dress code. Biggest Losers Competition The final weigh-in for the Biggest Losers competition was held on Friday, April 6th And the Winners were: 1st Place - Marcia Cannon 2nd Place - Tim Ward 3rd Place - Bonnie Cox Congratulations! Thank you! To all the members who came down to the IVY Club for Dock Days on Saturday, April 21st and Sunday, April 22nd. Many projects got accomplished in those two days, but there is still some projects left to be done around the club. If anyone would be interested in coming down and spending a couple of hours or more finishing up a project, please contact Harbor Master Ron Johnson at or look him up at the Club. 8 May 2018 Bridge Notes Hello spring, you have been a long time coming. So now we have the month of May to get the club into full swing. We will unofficially open the club Memorial Day weekend with the 18 th annual Cosmo party Friday night the 25 th. From there we will dress in red and green and enjoy our popular Italian night. Mark the calendars for the celebratory changing of the watch as we officially open the club raising the flags and a glass of champagne. The pool will be ready for a splash and the first fox hole of the season taps the first keg. And for all of you who are gluten intolerant, Sara and Chef Steve have prepared the kitchen to provide gluten free items. Make your reservations now to try something from the new and improved menu. It is always nice to have a crowd gathered at the club and we welcome back all the snow birds to our little oasis on the Illinois river.
