1 Dillon Christian School Established 1991 the Warrior SPRING has Sprung! We are counting down the days until the end of the school! We have lots of exciting events planned in the month of May. The Warrior will keep you informed! So mark your calendars with all of the important dates and events. May, 2015 ****TUITION & LUNCH: Tuition is due on the 1st of each month, and past due on the 11th. There is a $25.00 late fee after the 10th. Also if your child takes part in the lunch program, please remember that the lunch payment is due each month. Thank you! 2 Athletic News The spring sports season is winding down for the year and fall activities are gearing up for next year. B-team baseball and softball enjoyed one of their finest seasons ever this year. B-team sported 12-1 record while B-team softball ended their season at The Varsity softball and baseball teams honored the following seniors on Senior Night: Douglas Bullock, Landry Collins, Ellison Rourke, Jamie Carpenter, Ansley Hamer, Madison King, and Emilie Martin. Congratulations to the following baseball and softball players for making All-Region this year: Jake Boykin, Thomas Evans, Connor Hamilton, and Samantha Carpenter Middle school soccer is still underway with the last game to be played on Friday, May DCS. Congratulations to Jim Carr on being selected Region Player of the year in golf! Athletic Reminders The annual DCS Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, May, 2 at the Municipal Golf Course. Start time is 1:00. $50 entry fee per person/$200 per team. The monies raised will help pay for the activity bus. The DCS Warrior Athletic Banquet will be held at the Wellness Center on Thursday, May 14. Dinner will be served at 6:00. Awards presentations will begin shortly thereafter. The DCS Athletic Department would like to wish good luck to all the young ladies who are trying out for the JV/Varsity cheer squads. Spring football and volleyball practice is underway. See Coach Christian or Coach Conn if you have not signed up and would like to participate in football or volleyball for next year. If you are participating in athletics at DCS you will need to have a physical packet filled out and on file before you can participate in practice or games. Physicals will be given to all DCS athletes within the next few weeks. Information will be sent home to parents before then.

3 Kindergarten News Flash Kim Power/Nancy Pierce It is so hard to believe that the year is almost over. However, the kindergartners still have a lot of work and learning to pack in during the next few weeks. The day they have been working toward all year is almost here! Kindergarten graduation will be Tuesday, May 19, at 7:00 in our gym. The children will soon start walking in "graduation order" and are already practicing for their program. Mrs. Power and Mrs. Pierce invite everyone to come see the graduation. You will be truly blessed by the worshipful program that the children present. However, before graduation, the kindergartners will have one more field trip. They will be going to the the Ovis Hill Sheep Farm and Farmers' Market on Friday, May 8. Please pray that God will bless them with great weather and a safe trip. While at the sheep farm in Timmonsville, they will learn about the many different things that come from sheep. They will also see a spinning wheel spin yarn from wool. The children will also be able to feed baby sheep and learn a little bit of history. Mr. Charlie has sheep on his farm that are descended from the same sheep that George Washington raised! There will also be a few more surprises for them! One will be going on the hay ride and watching Sam, the border collie, round up sheep. Mr. Charlie will tell the children all about the work that he does as a shepherd. He will remind them that Jesus is the Good Shepherd and take care of us! He knows us all by name and looks for us when we are lost! Then we will head out to the Farmers' Market for snacks and goodies! A very big thank you to Coach Conn for being our bus driver!

4 SCISA Fair On Wednesday, April 15, 2015, Maggie Love, Ian Bethea, Noah Rooks, and Donald Branch represented Dillon Christian School in the SCISA Science Fair held at Sumter County Civic Center in Sumter, SC. Maggie Love was awarded 3rd place in the Environmental Science Elementary Division. Donald Branch was awarded 1st place in the Physical Science Senior Division. DCS is proud to have our school represented by these very talented young people.

5 Kiwanis Terrific Kids Dillon Christian School is pleased to announce the Kiwanis Terrific Kids for the third quarter of the school year. The designation is given to students who demonstrate a positive attitude, good character, and responsible citizenship. We are very proud of these students. COPS & KIDS into the Community Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Matthew 5:9 The goals for Cops & Kids are: *To enhance youth responsible citizenship *To provide positive interaction with the school resource officer and to educate young people about the challenges and responsibility of police work. * To encourage young people to take part in community services and civic responsibilities. This is a great summer program! Details will be mailed out soon! Cops and Kids Camp Dates: July 13th- 17th & July 27th-July 31st.

6 Beta Club On March 27, 2015, Dillon Christian School inducted new members into the Junior Beta Club and the Senior Beta Club for the school year. The purpose of the National Beta Club "shall be to promote the ideals of character, service, and leadership among elementary and secondary students." Students are chosen based on their academic and service achievements. 10 Praise Him Concert ""Fix My Eyes" Dillon Christian School Presents Spring Praise Him Concert On Thursday, April 23, 2015, the combined choirs of Dillon Christian School presented Fix My Eyes, the spring praise concert. Through songs, drama skits, recitations, and liturgical dance, all students were able to illustrate the theme of the evening. Prior to the concert, students presented a prelude of songs and piano selections. Melissa Hodge, parent of an elementary student, commented, It is so wonderful to have a school where children are able to praise God in such a wonderful way. Another parent, Marsha Minges said enthusiastically, It was the best concert ever! We certainly agree that it was a wonderful evening, and we would like to thank all parents, grandparents, and friends who attended.
