Stepping (Intro) Feb. 6 & 20 Periods 2, 3 and 4 Intro and history of stepping. Kahoot Feb. 13 Periods 2, 3, and 4 Students will answer BHM trivia in an interactive game of Kahoot. Royal Radio Every Thursday Morning Royal radio will play an approved song list to celebrate BHM Reflections Feb. 5, 12 & 20 Morning Student/teachers will prepare reflections to acknowledge BHM Foyer Display Case February All Day Students and teachers will provide artifacts and information pertaining to BHM for display. Photobooth in caf Feb. 23 Lunches Photobooth to illustrate messages of positivity. BHM trip to Factory Theatre Feb. 7 All Day 40 students will travel to see the play BANG! BANG! which explores issues
2 surrounding media literacy, diversity and cultural appropriation. BHM Poster in cafeteria February Poster will help students to share messages of inclusivity, empathy and celebration of diversity. ROM Tour: Here We Are Here: Black Canadian Contemporary Art Exhibition Black Canada: Life and Art Rania El Mugammar Writing Our Freedom Rania El Mugammar RAP Dance Majors: Dance Workshop Jasmyn Fyffe & Irvin Washington ROM Tour - ROM Teachers will lead students through the special exhibition Here We Are Here: Black Canadian Contemporary Art, which showcases the contemporary works of nine African Canadian artists, and the ROM galleries that reflect the diversity of African heritage. Location: Royal Ontario Museum Mar. 6 8:15 am - 1:00 pm This presentation engages students in learning about Black people in Canada from transatlantic slave trade to the present. Mar. 6 8:15 am - 1:00 pm This hands-on poetry workshop engages students in conversations and learnings around themes of Black identity in Canada, Black culture and history, as well as modern day Black Canadian experiences. Mar. 8 8:15 am - 2:30 pm The workshops are rooted in contemporary dance with a mission to create, utilize and perform relevant dance work.
