Self-pay patients either don t have health insurance or have a balance due that their insurance doesn t cover (due to coinsurance, deductibles, or services their policy doesn t cover). This program will help lead a discussion on best practices for our hospitals to follow. We will discuss the unique challenges of complying with the ADA in the healthcare environment. 10:15 a.m. Knowing Too Much About Your Employees Health Hospital employees tend to talk a lot about medical issues theirs and others. Hospitals need to adopt clear guidelines about how they obtain and use employee health information as an employer, and how they prevent the improper access and use of employees protected health information when the employee is a patient. Discuss techniques and strategies to assist you in mitigating and preventing violence in your hospitals and communities while understanding the existing reporting and tracking challenges and opportunities. Deeper awareness of the current state of workplace violence in healthcare Identify techniques and strategies to mitigate and prevent violence in healthcare organizations Understand the importance of reporting and tracking/ trending data on workplace violence Define the costs associated with workplace violence Laura Castellanos is an associate director at the American Hospital Association s (AHA) Health Research and Educational Trust (HRET). In her role, Laura manages the association-wide initiative Hospitals Against Violence focusing on educating the health care field on leading practices and innovative approaches to workplace safety and community violence prevention, including human trafficking, youth violence, workplace safety and workforce resiliency. 1:30 p.m. Foundation Panel Discussion Panel Discussions will occur with about 3-5 people per topic, and go one after another with a break between. Max time per panel would be 30 minutes to allow for transitions between panels Technology in the Foundation: Leveraging technology and tech resources/applications to enhance our work Donor fatigue: Tailing messaging to maximally impact different audiences Capital campaign: Success, failures, and planning 3:00 p.m. WyFI The excitement for the Wyoming Frontier Health Information (WYFI) is growing! WYFI is a health information exchange now available for providers and stakeholders within and surrounding the State of Wyoming. WYFI supports and is working toward the vision of creating communitybased virtual medical records and other clinical applications to promote a healthier Wyoming through a statewide secure, connected, and coordinated health IT system. Participating in WYFI will not cost providers a fee to participate through the year 2021, and will provide access to patient clinical data immediately upon provider participation. WYFI will be initially funded by the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) in partnership with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

11 3:00 p.m. Involuntary Discharge/Appeal Process During this session, we will discuss the procedural and substantive legal considerations when a nursing home must discharge or transfer a resident, including the resident s right to a hearing, their right to appeal, and how the Medicaid application process affects the timeline when the involuntary discharge is for nonpayment. 3:00 3:45: Fair Labor Standards Act Checkup During this session, we will discuss FLSA exemptions and overtime basics, and some special wage and overtime issues for healthcare employers. 3:45 4:30: Managing Harassment Risk Bad behavior in the workplace has always created risk for employers. Thanks to the recent exposure of decades of misconduct by high-profile celebrities and politicians, employees are more aware than ever about their options for addressing such behavior, and their employer s duty to stop it. And, your local newspaper is more willing than ever to write articles when employers fail to act.
