1 PARENT AND FAMILY WEEKEND SEPTEMBER 29 30, 2018 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
2 DEAR PARENTS AND FAMILY MEMBERS, It is our pleasure to invite you to Parent and Family Weekend. The fall is a beautiful time to visit the New Paltz area, as the campus is nestled in a region the Nature Conservancy named one of the last great places on earth. Come and see your student on campus, experience campus activities, meet college staff and faculty, and reunite with the Orientation Staff. Parent and Family Weekend offers you the opportunity to celebrate your student s experience at the college and observe the transition they are making to university life. We have planned a wonderful weekend, so please consider joining us! Saturday, September 29 is the primary focus of the weekend, featuring a full day of events, some structured and others on your own (see Interesting Things to Do on Your Own, page 3). Saturday events conclude by 10:30 p.m., so those families who choose to make a day trip can do so. Sunday offers choices for those families still in the Hudson Valley for the day. Parking on campus during the weekend is easy (no permits required) and dress for all events is casual. So come, enjoy the fall foliage and see how your most valued possession has adapted to life as a SUNY New Paltz student. In addition to our scheduled events, most families walk around town, browse in our quaint village shops and take their student out for a meal in one of New Paltz s many restaurants. You can make reservations online or by mail, and we appreciate you registering even if your plans do not include events for which there is a fee. Come to the Registration Table on Saturday to enter a free raffle to win a gift basket of New Paltz memorabilia, as well as to receive informational materials on up-to-date happenings in the area. We look forward to seeing you! Sincerely, Michelle Combs Director of Student Development Robert Moysey Coordinator of Transfer Student Engagement
