Dr. Amy Richmond Krakowka, MAJ Dylan Malcomb and Ms. Kristine Ringler published a paper in Applied Geography called: "Household vulnerability mapping in Africa's Rift Valley. In this paper we develop a vulnerability model that is applied to vulnerable countries in the East African Rift Valley (Malawi, Uganda, Rwanda and Ethiopia). We create an interdisciplinary framework to study the relationship between environmental processes and human wellbeing. The methodology advanced in this research has the ability to examine household-level drivers of vulnerability that are rarely accounted for in regional and global indices. Cadets Maria Fabi, Kelly Redmond, Ian Myers, Saverio Macrina, Jake Link, Tyler Tingstrom, Kyle Okular, and Ethan Kindly contributed to the field work portion of this research during summer AIAD s as well as LTC Chris Oxendine and MAJ Elizabeth Weaver. This research was funded by DoD Minerva. POC amy.krakwoka@usma.edu 15
