2 THE 2007 PBA FAMILY LAW SECTION SUMMER MEETING, JULY 12-15, 2007, offers up to 10 hours of CLE credit and great receptions on Thursday and Saturday. The Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina is located on two miles of waterfront along the Choptank River on the scenic Eastern Shore of Maryland. Built on over 342 acres, the 400-room resort features an 18-acre nature preserve with guided hikes and wildlife observation, an 18,000-square-foot European-style health spa, a glassenclosed pool and lounge area, an 18-hole Keith Fosterdesigned championship golf course, and a 150-slip marina. In addition, the resort offers a full-service business center, fitness center, and six restaurants and lounges. Enjoy an outdoor aquatic playground with water slide, sun deck, tennis, mini-golf and beach volleyball. A 2.3-mile jogging path circles the resort, and water enthusiasts can enjoy recreational activities such as fishing, sailing, boating and canoeing. HOTEL RESERVATIONS Room reservations may be made by calling the hotel at before Monday, June 11. Identify yourself as a participant in the Pennsylvania Bar Association meeting: Group Code G-PABA. After that date, reservations will be accepted on a space available basis only. Rates are $239 per night plus taxes for standard (single or double occupancy). For a guaranteed waterview, an additional charge of $25 per room/per night will apply. A resort fee of $10 per room/ per day will apply, which includes daily newspaper, local and 800-number calls, in-room coffee and tea, in-room safe, intra-resort shuttle, access to the fitness center, self parking, putting green and driving-range privileges. TRAVEL Centrally located in the Mid-Atlantic, the resort is approximately two and a half hours from Philadelphia, three hours from Harrisburg, and five hours from Pittsburgh. The resort is also accessible by boat. Guests who wish to dock their boats at the marina overnight should call in advance to make a reservation. CAMP HYATT The resort features Hyatt s award-winning program for children ages Camp Hyatt at Pirate s Cove features a 1,000-square-foot playground, indoor facilities and activities that draw upon the unique ecology and surroundings of the Chesapeake Bay. CONCIERGE DESK The hotel has a Concierge Desk that is located in the Main Lobby of the resort and is open from 9:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m. to assist with your hotel stay. They can set up fishing, sailing and various other tours to ensure you enjoy the natural beauty of the Chesapeake Bay. They will also make dinner reservations for the Blue Point or Water s Edge Restaurant or recommend area restaurants for your dining pleasure. GOLF Play a challenging Keith Foster-designed course with wide fairways, 65 bunkers, meandering wetlands and two of the region s most talked-about finishing holes. The 17th hole dares golfers to execute a dramatic carry over Shoal Creek to a well-guarded green. Big hitters can reach the 18th hole green in two if they can avoid the Choptank River and the coastal bunker, both of which run the length of the fairway. If you plan to participate in the Golf Tournament on Friday, indicate your handicap on the PBA registration form and enclose the non-refundable entry fee. RIVER MARSH MARINA The marina is a focal point of the resort, with three piers extending from the main breakwater in front of the resort. Guests who choose to dock their boats at the marina overnight will enjoy guest privileges throughout the resort. Guests can participate in a variety of activities that are offered by the resort, such as sailing lessons, fishing excursions, canoe and kayak rentals and boat tours through the Chesapeake Bay s tributaries. The Marina Store is located at the base of the dock and offers boating accessories, clothing, drinks and snacks. The PBA Family Law Section Summer Meeting has been approved by the Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education Board for up to 10 hours of CLE credit.

3 A summer weekend at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Chesapeake at the Eastern Shore makes a great getaway. The educational programming highlights are as follows: We will start Thursday afternoon with a program presented by the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers that will focus on the internet and the computer as resource tools for Family Lawyers. Friday morning, we will host nationally recognized Professor Charles Craver of George Washington University, presenting an interactive program on the Art of Negotiation. On Saturday morning, we have two of the best business valuators in the Commonwealth, Greg Cowhey and Dick Brabender, testifying as to goodwill and discounts through the direct- and crossexamination of their attorneys, Joanne Ross Wilder and Mark Ashton. Judge Kim Eaton will be presiding over their testimony. This program will be followed by three workshops: One on cohabitation with members of both the opposite and same sex, school selection in custody battles, and prepping your client for custody evaluations. This last workshop will be led by another top expert in the field, Dr. Arnold Shienvold. On Sunday, we will have a Town Meeting with the Supreme Court Rules Committee, followed by our new format of Case Law Update with discussion and a judicial perspective that was so well received in Atlantic City. The details of the program and all the presenters are set forth in a schedule in this brochure. Now for the goodies of the weekend. Thursday night, we will have a Welcoming Reception on the banks of the Choptank River with cocktails and hors d oeuvres showcasing Maryland s finest cuisine. Friday afternoon we will be sponsoring a golf tournament at the challenging River Marsh Golf Course. Friday night, we will have a late dessert/hospitality reception to cap off the evening. Saturday morning we will have another innovative program featuring a sit-down breakfast with a presentation on Maximizing Your Settlements for Dependent Spouses, led by Neil Brown of Mellon Private Wealth Management. During the day, the Hyatt offers tennis, boating, swimming on multi-level pools both indoor and out; and the Stillwater European-style Health Spa, which features 13 treatment rooms and a variety of services. There is a complete fitness center at the hotel or you can enjoy nature walks through the resort s own wildlife refuge.
